No matter how many times I've driven up from Calgary I never get bored of the scenery.
I missed the boat in the early 90's when Canmore was still incredibly affordable. Such is life.

I drive Calgary to Panorama every second weekend or thereabouts. Never gets old. The highlight of the drive home at the end of the weekend is turning the slow corner at the top of the ridge as you head north and down the hill to the Kootenay River and you have the whole of the Kootenay River valley in front of you. From April to July, the mountains are capped in white over the green ( now somewhat burnt out) valley below. Absolutely spectacular. Against a deep blue alpine sky, little is prettier.

    Also, for Canadian Rockies skiers:

Just as a PSA Cobertts has deal on Smith I/O goggles $69.99 a pair using the coupon code SKICND so get $40 off each pair , only applies to the ones with the SKI CAN logo beside them.

    https://www.corbetts.com/categories/...ll&Brand=Smith

plus if buy two pairs free shipping and they only charge the GST when shipping to BC

Don't want that snow here. Praying for a heavy melt so we can start fresh again. We normally get a shitty persistent layer and last year was spooky.
Hope it all melts and we get the same dumpage November 16th, right after 2 weeks of cold dry snow-making weather!

    2017/2018 CANADIAN ROCKIES THREAD

Followed a loaded Tacoma topped with a rack of skis, TGR sticker on the back of the cap, through Mt Robson PP today. Wyoming plates. They headed north as I took the south route at Tete Juane Cache. Wonder where they where headed to start their season?

A couple miles further south by Valemount, the skies opened a bit and there was a bit of fresh white in the alpine. Heavy frosts in the valley bottom expected this week, with some precip.

and if anyone needs a deal on nordica, technica, blizzard, boots/skis, this can help

    http://nordicaskioutlet.com/

    http://blizzardskioutlet.com/

this is NOT a deal thru me, just PSA. If you are in alberta, and can come get them, pick "soul ski and ride" as your store.

Tell them Dave/mntlion from TGR sent ya.

free shipping, prices in CND funds. If absolutely needed, I can re-ship something for the cost of shipping + beers

Tickets are on sale for Rockies Shred Fest (formerly Winterstoke). It's been a fucking blast in the past few seasons so if you're in or around Banff on 19th October you should be there.

I can get them fitted in Whistler. I’d give you the business if you were in the shop, but otherwise I’ll just pick them up.

If you get stuck and don't mind staying in cowtown, you can crash at my place.
