RR: Colorado Trail Race '17
One month ago today I finished the toughest event I've ever lined up for: The Colorado Trail Race. What a brute. For me, it made the AZTR750 seem pale in comparison and that was no easy task. Altitude and poor weather conditions were the main factor. But, in the end I stuck with it and got my carcass across the finish line in Waterton Canyon 12+ days after leaving Durango. Oof.
Colorado Trail Race '17 - Wet 'n Wild Edition
There are a ton of pics in the full ride report, I snapped over 700!! Lots of time to take pics when you're sucking wind.
Here are a few favs:
Pushing up Rolling Mtn. Pass with a fellow racer.
High point of the Colorado Trail at 13,271'
Beautiful ranch lands.
The famed Monarch Crest trail had seen better days.
Racing around Twin Lakes in front of a storm while the Sun dips behind Mt. Elbert.
Huge mental lift reaching Kokomo Pass with plenty of daylight to spare.
Second to last day on route and I'm waiting out the 4th storm of the day. Longing for AZ...
Empty finish line, Waterton selfie.
Strava stats.
My ride in a nutshell.
