Shooting Eclipse With 35mm
I found some film for the old camera, thought this would be a good time to use it up.
I have found zero info on teh googz about film shooting eclipses.
Can you shoot directly at the sun without a filter?
Using Fuji ISO800 print film

yes, be sure to keep your eye in the viewfinder the whole time
[you need a sun specific filter & please don't burn your retina]

I gots one for the DLSR. Not buying 1 for the antique. Maybe I could just hold the filter over the lens...?
Yea, I'm not using the cheapo paper glasses from Amazon the boy bought. I'm using a #14 welding lens, I like my eyes.
I heard the reason you can't shoot at the sun with a DSLR is it will burn the sensor. Maybe the sun will melt the film? But that will be a mute point when we're all eaten by the zombies....

I'd hold the welding glass in front of the lens. That way you don't burn your retina and the 800 ISO film would be way too fast for direct sun.

I'm thinking a coronal shot during totality will be cool. No filter necessary?
I rip the groomed on tele gear

Correct. No filter needed during the totality. but even up to 99% of full, you need one

It burns the sensors, but that's the least of our worries when the zombie come during the apocoeclipse.
I'm not looking miracles with film, just a way to use it up before the battery goes dead for the old beast.

Taking film in today, I bracketed a bit, we'll see.
On another note, I shot raw + jpeg on my D7100 for the first time. Now I can't figure out how to view the jpeg. File is to big to post any picture yet
add-just took out the raw card, and transferring from the jpeg cardLast edited by k2skier112; 08-21-2017 at 03:12 PM. Reason: add

Nice!
I set up the GoPro on 0:30 intervals but I haven't had a chance to sit down and download the sequence
