any botanists in the house?
I was hiking the Castle Peak loop (norcal) yesterday and saw a flower I can't identify, nor can my personal botanist. Wet sunny sites. I saw the same flower a couple days earlier in Carpenter Valley. The purple tips on the bracts (?) in the picture are more pinkish in real life. The leaves are sparse, very narrow, swordlike. Anybody know what it is? The flowers yesterday were the best I've ever seen and I've hiked that trail every year for the last 20 or more. Lots of wet site stuff I haven't seen in years--shooting star, monk's hood, Lewis monkeyflower, elephant's head.

That's a really shitty picture, no wonder your personal botanists can't ID it. The desk look like mahogany, though.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

Try the department of herbs and tinctures, right past Big Steve and the ornatholigy department

Old college friend of mine that has a little shack off the grid in the Mojave. When we hiked this spring we did about 5 feet and hour. Common and latin names for everything, but not this one. But he specializes in Ohio, where he lives, and the Mojave
Bingo. Thank you.
The table is mahogany, Hutash, and the picture was good enough for someone who knows something to figure it out. As a vet, shouldn't you have known it, since it has to do with owls?
