are there cheap insoles? (for cycling shoes)

In my old pair of cycling shoes, I threw some insoles from a pair of running shoes that a buddy never used...they are toast now...looking to find an insole that's at least somewhat supportive & cheap

my new sidi's have a flat pos pad

is there nothing less than $40?

any store, that sells more expensive insoles, will usually have a pile of old, flat, crappy insoles, that they will give away.

(our ski shop has a bunch)

I use the sidi stock insole but I do some mods.
Go to your local craft store and buy some 1/16" foam sheets.
Cut some moon shaped pads and add volume to your flat spots.
I usually add under my arch until it feels right...experiment.
You can also use paper thin sheets of cardboard to take up volume for a tighter overall fit.

These are as good as any off the shelf and better than most.

spenco full length or 3/4 length arch cushions are cheap, if you don't need heel stabilization or firm arch support. They have arch support but compressible. Superfeet can be had uner $40.

I usually shop the sales or use rei dividends for sole or superfeet, but at that price, those look worth a try.

Specialized insoles are really good, and they make a variety of sizes/support, for around $30.

I've seen Merrill and a few other brands on the racks of discount stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Burlington Coat. Usually well under $20 usually under $10. But just like anything from these stores, they do not consistently have them or in all sizes.

I use stock ski boot insoles in cycling shoes. They're better than the wafer thin ones that usually come in bike shoes.

do the off the shelf from specialized have a metetarsal bump, I have some that came with the shoes that have the bump and they work well ?

IME a bike shoe has got to fit like a ski boot or better with no mods so if i have to put after market insoles in them they are the wrong shoe for me and so far its been specialized shoes all the way for me
