We've been running our Bosch on the 30min cycle and it seems to get everything clean. Not dry, just clean. And it's definitely louder than when we bought it.

we have something similar -- the spray function is effective enough, even at residential pressure. you can buy commercial at 1gpm, and, with decent pressure, have an effective "power wash".

quite frankly, i'm not sure any residential kitchen really wants a commercial kind of overspray all over the kitchen -- altho i imagine the kids would love shooting it at each other

Grohe sucks monkey balls, don't buy that shit please, I"ve thrown out about six high end grohe bullshit faucets lately, they all work, if anyone really wants one i'll mail the next one to you, some of them might be in my copper recycle pile though, so you could get one by friday if your lucky

If you ^^ hate your Asko just quit using it and see how long before you love it again

IME one can usually make a DW work a little better even without a pre-rinse by not using the environmentally friendly soap

and finding a dish loading pattern that does not suck

run the DW at night and turn off the drying cycle cuz thats what uses so much electricity

I see your point, but paying that much money for something that needs repair annually and clogs up every three months is bound to generate a certain amount of antipathy.

OK ^^ why didn't you say so

I get the idea maybe the new shit is shit or maybe I just have good appliance Karma but GE, kitchenaid, kenmore have always seemed to run forever and what did break down was simple enough to fix with a few tools

I think the Don has been into them eastern euro models ... maybe thats the ticket eh?

Bosch is not the tits IMO. Too many repairs, and they're stupid expensive to have fixed. Same with Sub-Z. My Bosch does not have a 30 minute cycle. I lived for years with cheap, American appliances and never once called the repairman. They know me by name at Appliance Service Center.

    Yes, 1st world problem indeed.

For those who say I need to rethink life if I can't wait 90, perhaps that's true though I am rethinking life on a lot of levels right now, and the commercial DW is one of them.

Here's the thing: I'm a clean-as-you-go cook. I fucking hate having a bunch of pots, pans, cutting boards, mis en place containers, whiskers, graters, etc. laying about awaiting a cleanse, or even sitting on the drainboard drying while I'm making more dishes to wash.

Seems to me with a commercial machine, you throw everything in there as you use it (instead of washing that stuff by hand, drying it and stowing it several times in a prep process), hit the start button and 2 minutes later it comes out clean and dry, then put it away. Nothing has to pile up in the sink, just throw it in the under-counter. Repeat as necessary.

For a small group you load it with dishware after the meal, put it away while dessert is warming. Large group, no more worries about having too much stuff for the 90 minute dishwasher which virtually happens every time the group is 10+, and you end up hand washing a bunch of dishes late at night AND waiting 90 minutes for the fucking Bosch, AND getting up in the morning and having to unload the fucking Bosch. Fill it up between courses, put stuff away, fill it up again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I also love getting up in the morning to a sparkling clean kitchen with no dishes to unload. And my kids are pretty much growed up now, so no worries about accidental chaos with little ones.

Makes absolutely perfect sense to me.

Much like the time-honored TGR question, "please consider the environment before printing this email", I'm surprised no one has considered "the help" in this important thread.

    Yes...

Oh, and those dishes don't come out dry... at least not the commercial washers I've used.

IME they come out wet, but at 875* - so they dry pretty quickly.

Yeah I went around on this topic with someone on here a few years ago, they were saying Grohe doesn't work well with "American" water, which is obviously nutty since there's no such thing as standard water. I think it may be true that Grohe is affected by water with high mineral content, or there may be something else at play, I'm not sure what exactly.

In our case I have a house full of 18-year-old Grohe stuff that looks and works like new, and I've used it in 3 other major projects and I've literally never had an issue. So, I dunno. Opinions do vary on it, that's for sure.

Cruiser, there's two points of restriction, one is in the spray head, it's basically just a matter of popping out a plastic disk. That does improve flow but doesn't free it completely. The other is in the line, that's a matter of getting a different valve I believe.

(the grohe you get at HD isn't the same as you might select at a bath/kitchen fixture showroom [& hansgrohe is a completely separate co])
