Recommended Reading from the Forecaster's perspective - Suggestions...
Looking for some recommended (and accessible) articles, papers, TAR sections/pieces related to public avalanche forecasting.
More specifically:
- Forecasting using data gathered by other people
· Communicating effectively to a wide audience of varying skill levels and experience
- Influencing behavior and risk in general, and/or within specific avalanche problems
Somewhat wide-ranging request, but I know there are some forecasters in the room so anything that has really stood out for you would be appreciated.
Thanks!Drive slow, homie.

Good stuff here: https://arc.lib.montana.edu/snow-science/workshops.php
Tremper's 2014 article "The Wisdom of Crowds in Avalanche Forecasting" has guided some of what we're doing in the Yukon with respect to using public data to generate our avalanche bulletins.Last edited by Solesides; 09-28-2017 at 06:46 PM.
