    Highest Fun-per-Dollar: discuss

What, in your view, is the most fun you can get (including time...many years of fun would count more than 10 minutes) for the least amount of money?

    Go!

Masturbation. It's free and it's a lifetime of fun.

Some people think masturbation is something you do for ten minutes twice a day.

I think of it as something you spend a lifetime perfecting.

Good for, at most, like an hour a day....not that it's not a good answer.

By the way, there needs to be a unit of fun, and we need to name and describe it.

It's a lot of money for that gear. I feel like body surfing has ski touring on simple math.

No need for new gear, though. If jonesing for new gear, you're right. Durable shit can last many years.

Fair point. So where you live determines the thing mostly, right? Work with the terrain you have and be happy. Old skis, old bike, body surf, etc.

Or do you mean purely on equipment cost?

I don't know....there's the best ratio in the cosmos, and the best ratio available to a given person at a given time. Seems like both are worth discussion.

The term I like best is "shits and grins"....except it's too cumbersome. Maybe clip it to shit-grins.

How many shit-grins per dollar, or if zero dollars, how many shit-grins outright?

The cheap used honda 3 wheeler has to be somewhere in the mix. If it's between jerking off and doing snow donuts on a cheap 3-wheeler....well, that's a lot of shit-grins.

Skateboarding has a pretty low entry cost to fun ratio.

Non-technical off-trail hiking and scrambling in the mountains. Cheap to gear up: boots, ice axe, hard hat (optional), map and compass.

But skateboarding takes away shitgrins fast on occasion... does injury rate contribute to the calculation? Getting hurt costs money and stoke, but risky shit is fun.

A case of cheap beer and some friends.

(perhaps it's more like a multiplier? honda three wheeler while drunk on cheap beer would be significantly more fun, no? and I know for a fact drunk sledding is better than sober sledding.)

I have the expression as shits-and giggles, same thing. Change it around to Grins-and Shits, and we have the GAS unit.

80's style arcade games... once you got over the cost to get good at it you could play a couple hours of Defender for 25c.
