Something in the air yesterday... I broke my fibula. It was not my bikes fault, tho.

    Something in the air yesterday...
No kidding. When I got home and was lying on the floor wheezing and having the spins, I heard a gnarly wreck on the highway near my house. I was able to get up and look out at it, but covered in oozing abrasions and not able to stand up straight or walk normal, I figured I wouldn't be of much help given it had many eyeballs on it and ems were probably 5 mins away tops....good chance looking like I looked I might be a distraction for getting it all dealt with, so I stayed put and didn't assist with a traffic accident right in front of my house...which felt awful really.

If I were a shitbird I could have found a way to take my bleeding ass and bent bike over there and get my hooks into somebody's insurance. Oh morality, how you fuck me time and time again.

Sorry about your leg J.... geezus wtf.

do they do anything with a cracked fib nowdays?

Even tho the radiologist was there when I did it (kayaking off a bridge) and diagnosed the cracked fib

He later missed it on the xray until 6 weeks later when the calcification lines showed up

    no problem tho

    Shit, sorry guys.

You can be conservative and take it easy all you want, sometimes crashes happen anyway. I had a good one in june. Luckily no broken bones and no hit to the head.

I hope I don't lose my gusto for the mtn bike... I have a reputation for full commitment... usually, confidence, a little speed and commitment actually keep you safe on a mtn bike.

I doubt you will loose your gusto.
While this might temper how you approach terrain features, etc., my prediction is that, post rehab, you'll get right back on that horse (to use a Transition metaphor ).

So I rode laps on an old DH bike (sinister R9) today, and my process of triangulating things I read here with things I learned riding the el mar with things I learned riding this DH bike today is coming together. It had the new 559 enduro wheels
There's a lot of high early lines I can take with the fs that get loose and sketchy with both hardtails, and that alone felt amazing. Fun stuff.

I can really, really see the appeal of a good enduro bike at this stage. It would be nice to merge the capabilities of these two bikes.

Its probably dependant on where you live, if its whistler sure you could use a DH bike but if you only need it once a year ... rent

junior had the DH bike and an xc bike, until he got the 4th gen Nomad at which point he said you can do it all with 1 bike & sold the xc bike

then he sold the nomad and got the Yeti 5.5 said it enduro's faster

I rode it and bought one

a good enduro bike... is good
