Thanks boyz... And to funny as last year I was not buying any Praxis and than Keith dropped the Q... I had already picked up 2 new boards for the year... Thanks to a killer buzz I talked myself into the Q and hid them from my wife until we were on vaca... I do not recommend this as she did some revenge spending while on our ski trip...

My wife found it and I am one of those guys who does not like hanging skis from the tips... I mounted the rack to hold the skis just above the bindings and the system hold them in place really well...

My experience with hardwood veneers has been nothing but good. Light, great feel, and so far quite durable. My hardwood GPOs have seen moderate use over a season and a half & look great.
The topsheet on my bamboo Qs is substantially less durable in terms of nicks, dings, peels (I've sealed a couple bits with a quick wipe of epoxy & that seems to work well). Though so far there are no notable functional issues with the bamboo.

I prefer the appearance of the non-veneer.

192 Enduro protest with birds eye Veneer - vice versa graphic (on the left). Turned out amazing. Now I'm reconsidering my choice of Jamaican lion for Quixote over Wall graphic.

I love the looks of my bamboo Qs, but less than impressed with the durability... They scratch and nick very easily and are seen very easily compared to the std topsheet... If and when I buy another pair of Praxis I am going non wood veneer...
Spindrift, did Keith recommend epoxy for the scratches...?

No. I did it after a stupid fall (right after getting back on a groomer ) where one ski slashed the other and sliced a decent chunk of the bamboo at the edge and on top - left a bunch of the "raw" material exposed.
I masked it off with blue tape, mixed up some five minute epoxy, & wiped it in for maybe 10-20 seconds with my finger using a zip loc as a glove. I left virtually no thickness - just enough to soak in and cure with the thinnest possible amount left on the surface. I yanked the blue tape after a minute or three - before curing/setting got too far along - so it just peeled off with no hassle. Worked like a champ. Cured down nice and tight and sealed everything up. You'd never know unless you knew.
Keith and I talked about this afterward and he said he'd been thinking about some kind of oil to water seal that kind of stuff on the bamboo. Not sure if it ever went anywhere or if he ever settled on anything.
As previously noted, I am not a fan of the bamboo. But the hardwood is great - I would not hesitate to get it again.Last edited by spindrift; 08-05-2017 at 09:28 AM.
