Gift for staff?
I have a group of staff - 7 people split between IT professionals and back office/accounting - who work in the basement of our main office. These two groups have been killing it in the last few months with some large projects and transitions, as we've been developing them into some new roles and responsibilities. I'd like to do something nice for them, individually and/or as a group. Looking for good ideas. Help me out, maggotry.
focus.

What's your budget?
Brandine: Now Cletus, if I catch you with pig lipstick on your collar one more time you ain't gonna be allowed to sleep in the barn no more!
Cletus: Duly noted.

Amazon gift cards. Pre paid Debit cards. Let them decide.

Are you leaning more towards tangible gift(s) or an event?
Are they close?
Like to socialize together?
Party folk... or more quiet, keep to themselves family types?
Also, yeah... budget?

Budget isn't large. We aren't sending everybody on a cruise. Think more like jelly of the month club.
Depending on what it is, it would likely come out of my own pocket, which is a little threadbare at the moment. If it's funded by the company: I don't have a discretionary budget, per se, but I have a good deal of influence over the overall budget and can sell anything that is defensible and equitable (read: not hookers and blow).focus.

A bonus.
These people have a job so they can make money. They work hard so they can keep their job and possibly make more money. Give them money.
Fuck giving a gift. When was the last time you got a tangible gift from your boss/company that didn't get shoved in a drawer or closet....

People work for money. If they are doing a great job, give them money.

How about just a lunch at a decent place. Then you don't have to worry about a bar tab(?) since it is coming out of your pocket. Give them an honest thank you for all you've done quick word. Without an actual budget number, best that shouldn't cost you a rent check.

I don't disagree.... raises and bonuses are a different convo. I can take the cost of something thoughtful and just split it, but that isn't going far. I guess I was looking for something more personal. I have a general aversion to bullshit in this stuff, which makes it hard for me to get my head in the right place for this right here.

My boss gave me a couple restaurant gift cards when I killed it on a recent project. While the gesture was appreciated, I still haven't used them and would have rather had a comp day off.
PTO (particularly if they're salaried and worked more than 40 hours/week on this), Amazon gift cards (ie something they'll actually use), or cash.

Considered that. Also thought about having them and their +1 over to my home for a casual dinner/drinks. My concern is that creates its own imposition....now they feel obligated to give up their lunch or (worse) evening too. Probably a good thing to do, but also might not be quite the "thank you" gesture I'm looking for at the moment.
Autographed self portraits?
A "World's Best Employee" mug for each of them?
Primo parking spot?
Their picture in the company newsletter?
C'mon, TGR, I expected more....focus.

The people have spoken; cash or time off. Everything else is second best.

I guess you could also give them a small trophy that says "You're Number One!!!". Present it during a pizza party.
