Well that looks lovely. I’ll have to give it a go.

It’s nearly time to hang up the G&T for the season here, but man, what a summer it’s been.

    That looks good.
White jeans, sundresses, warm weather and sunshine still in effect here (can’t stop, won’t stop at some arbitrary calendar date), thus, it’s still G&T season. Barely.

I did move to Negronis for a while last weekend before doing some Oktoberfest.

Negronis always get a few weeks during shoulder seasons before making the full move to brown liquor for the winter.

This is the way. We’ve had a couple fires outside so far this month, but still not brown water season just yet. G&Ts on the other hand go fantastic with the late summer burn. Negronis worked last weekend.

Is that your casual Friday outfit?

I believe Norseman may have ushered out the G&T season here in style. You'd have to ask him.

Now that the rains have returned after a scorchfest of a summer, I for one have turned back to the brown waters of my forebears. But I as well dabbled in a negroni as the clouds came in.

It went from high 80s and humid to low 70s today at the drop of a hat.

Sunny, but suddenly, almost instinctively, I found myself reaching for the Woodford instead of the Beefeater.

I'll monitor the situation closely to be sure.

The marinade was the usual compl333tly random choice of bottles from the side of the cooktop.
    They're never the same.

I know there was Marukan sweetened rice wine vinegar, garlic powder, salt, Vermont maple syrup, Trader Joe's Carolina Barbeque Sauce, some old pinot noir, pickle juice, toasted sesame oil, ground pepper, homemade raspberry jam.

    At least.

I marinate the stuff for 4 hours or so, skewer it up, grill it, then deskewer into the pan of marinade and let that simmer on the grill for a couple of minutes. Somewhere in there I had a snort of Dalwhinnie. Then killed the remnants of a Newton chard before wading through a bit of Carneros Pinot with dinner.

Have a few last green beans in olive oil with.

Summers last gasp induced an abberation, a transgression, a contravention: a last Zirbenz encrusted G&T as the sun lay low in that weird angled autumn amber light.

At a bar last week that had no dry English gin, closest I could get was The Botanist. I was disappoint.

Nice bump and reminder, it’s hot here and I was kind of grimacing at the thought of my usual whiskey neat.

But I really like The Botanist.

It was drinkable, unlike such things as Hendricks or Nolet, but imma stick with a good dry english.
