Disagree, strongly. While Wolfe and Federer are geographic areas/seasons all to themselves, mere mortals can pull it off based on time and place. Ice cream parlors (parlours?), boats, tennis matches, while curling or playing croquet, bocce viewing or playing, any horse race, skiing, and voting of any kind all lend themselves to wearing white no matter the season or location. So do common situations you may find yourself in such as being a minor character in a Bond movie, running a tech company, being on safari in any temperature, running a small country as a despot, and hopping on a private jet at the last minute. Large, fashionable cities such as Paris, Milan and Rome just beg for full whites, but oddly this works in much smaller places year round as well: Savannah, New Glarus, Rockport, Leadville, Moab, and Nag Head all handle the look just fine. My grandfather used to wear full whites, albeit not truly year round, and he was a bookie on the side. Proving that some professions lend themselves to this as well: aforementioned bookies, architects, painters, archeologists and art directors to name a few.

Personally, I believe the key to pulling it off, in most places and in most seasons, is to not wear socks.

This deserves to be posted in the sartorial thread and kept as a reference for not only how to dress, but career options as well. Excellent work.

Also, gin and tonics do not stain a white suit.

I still call it The Jake.

Well, now I need to revisit Aviation. Tried shortly after it first hit the market, thought it tasted like kerosene. Sounds like they've uped their game a bit. Not sure which is worse, though .... parsnips or piss.

Parsnip gin sounds like the most British thing ever. And not in the “red double decker bus” vein, but more like it was made in the bathtub of some Dickensian hovel by a soot covered 10 year old.

I'm about to don a cream coloured linen suit, whip up a stiff G&T with James' Horror and go sit out in the 55F rain to raise my middle finger to summer.

The other side of the coin: to celebrate our unseasonably low temps (not to worry - we're forecast to be back into the 100s by Tuesday), I'm sipping a Frey Ranch winter rye whiskey Manhattan. Yin Yang that, motherfuckers.

We might see 70F Tuesday next week before dropping back into the 60s.

I've always adored the cool and damp, but this year it's getting to be a bit much.

48 and rainy. My job was to sit in it and be miserable while thing#3 played some U18 soccer. Heat was cranked on high on the car ride home. No G&T here.

Opened a bottle of Oak from The Botanist, and their standard Islay Dry Gin. Very smooth.

    Its Gin weather.

Keep saying I am going to get more adventurous in my Gins but then I see things like this pic from my local Indian place ( which does have a nice cocktail menu) and think things have gone too far and i will stick to my reliables :

The correct Gin and Tonic: List 'em up Maynard.

Todays mix is fever tree and Gale Force with lime. Gale Force is from the Cisco brewery distillery (Triple Eight) and is surprisingly good for G&T. More citrus then herbs, but solid option for down by the ocean

I enjoyed that with a long G&T of my own.

I’d pay money to sit and drink with those two.

And the oaf too if he showed up.
