ON3P BG: Shape changes?
http://www.evo.com/skis/on3p-billy-g...s-2018-179.jpg
Hi,
I am looking into the shape picture, and it seems like that now (or was it always) BG has left ski and right ski due to the position of the taper on inside and outside.
Am I wrong? what does this mean, any comments from people who have this ski for a season or two?
thank you.

The BG gets an asymmetrical shape for next year, 2017/2018. I have not skied them yet.
The asymmetrical shape is discussed heavily in the ON3P skis thread.

ON3P BG: Shape changes?
Galenparke put up a little review of the new ones like a month ago.
I also asked him a comparison question, and what I got out of it was that the new BG is slightly more turny, from the center of the ski.. GP correct me if I'm wrong.. More loose, and slightly more powder specific. Still capable of all mtn though, and still capable of speed.

I skied the new asym taper shape and found them to be LESS powder specific, more versatile in non-dreamy conditions, than my '15 BG.
I'd trade up for next season if I can.

I would bet it's the straight sections of sidecut the 16/17 model got that make them better on firm compared to the '15s you own, not the asymmetry. I would bet the guys on ON3P added the asymm to increase "starve-ability" compared to the current (non-assym) design while retaining most of the improvement on hard snow.

New 17/18 BG (Asym) is for sure better in chop and mank, but also better on harder snow than the '15BG. They lose nothing on the harder stuff between 16/17 and 17/18.
You should have been here yesterday!

Did I read somewhere that there will be a 193 for this year as well?

PowTron told me that it's in the works but they might not release it to the general public. I was told that they'll know more around October.
I was also told that it'll be the same shape (asymmetrical) as the 189 but it's going to be stiffer (extra stiff). It's also going to have less splay in the tail but keep the same rocker length.

I havent skied them yet, but something about my 2017 189s makes them seem ever-so-slightly burlier than my old 2015 191s.. I dont doubt they will be able to haul the mail, even under my 220lbs

I have the 191 Billys and burly does not come to mind when describing them... Fun as shit and they def get after it, but burly or demanding they are not that... As all ON3Ps are - they kill it, but def so easy to ski and you dont have to be on your A game all the time...

ON3P BG: Shape changes?
For sure. I didnt mean they were burly or demanding, just that my new ones seem burlier than the old ones. Kinda like saying my new car is faster than my old one, even though its not a "fast" car.
Billy Goats are really easy to ski. Maybe "burlier" isnt the word I should have used..
I meant stiffer, and with that, possibly more stable.
Correction: It seems like my 189s are a little stiffer than my old 191s.
Thanks for helping me clarify Undertow.

For what it's worth, your old 191s have probably softened up a bit since they were new. I just got a new pair of 184s and they're way stiffer than my 13/14 186s, but after 3 years of abuse, those 13/14s are considerably softer than they started--they're about as stiff as K2 Hellbents now.

Really? That seems disconcerting. I don't feel like any of my skis have become so noticably soft over time.

Yeah, that seems odd.

I laughed and I am with you in spirit. Getting old and hopefully I can rip my tiny short little 184 16/17's hard enough to humble a few people this year. Last year with the knee recovery I was the one getting my ass kicked. That was a good humbler and I think I'm learning how to age gracefully a little but fkna I like the versatility of the 186/184. Plenty of ski for me.
