I always chuckle when people say Subaru's can make it most places SUV's can. Sure fire way to know that person doesn't actually get off the beaten path much.

Not arguing but I had my wife offroading her 13 outback in spots most normal people wouldn't take their well equipped/better clearanced SUVs. We also had real trucks with recovery gear. Also I have an unhealthy obsession with a triple locked cruiser on 37s(like I need it with a 71 bronco on 38s).

That is where my 100 series is always located too...filling up. Great trucks, with a greater thirst for gas.

I think that low mileage lhd 105-series is still sitting in a garage in Mongolia waiting for a buyer....

As did mine, when I had it. The small tank didn't help.

I've owned both and I don't agree. The 100 gets some nice and comfortable upgrades while maintaining the durability and toughness.

The hundred doesn't ride nearly as well on rough terrair due to the reduced travel of the ifs. It definitely is more comfortable and spacious.

The 80 also is built significantly more heavy dudty, stronger front axle, (front diff is weak on the hundie), redundant belts on front of engine, headier duty body with metal bumpers (plastic wings). Also the 80 used a heavier duty transmission. Early 4 spd 100 series used the same one, but 5 speed models got the tundra Tacoma transmission. 80 was just a burlier built vehicle with better off road capability. I have owned 3 80 series trucks and 2 100 series trucks.

Had not heard that. Expected the 200 to go for a while longer. Got a link to an article?

What in the shit?! An x-drive engine with multiple turbos. I call bullshit.

The LC, while at various times, being the flagship for Toyota, rarely, if ever, had a ground-breaking, technologically advanced engine.

While I do agree that one is coming, that article seems rather click-baity and devoid of any real source.

    80 series land cruiser futures

So $90k+ for a Subaru boxer powered LC.

    It’s been a good run.

I’ll hang on to my 80.

That 300-series is gonna be trippy.... i didn't look closely, but there are a few multi-page threads in the mud forum about the 300-series. Maybe more real info than what's in that "article."

Wow. Peeked into my local station today, and they had a Land Cruiser up on the lift getting an entirely new rear end on it. Like everything hanging down was new parts, all shiny. I asked how much, and the mechanic estimated 7 grand for the work, on a 220000 mile car. Somebody loves their Land Cruiser.

Air suspension went on my GX the other day. Thinking about cashing in on BAT by adding an OME lift and maybe an ARB front bumper. Expo rigged cruisers of any form seem to actually get mod money back.

Seems super hit or miss though. Most of them don't actually see much of it back unless the rest of the rig is spotless.

Have you seen what pretty much any car goes for on BAT?

A good detail and my rig looks brand new. I do agree though that for the 80's and older cruisers, you are only going to see that money on pristine versions. The GX seems to be in that sweet spot where those residual values are extending to that model, which isn't old enough to have rusted out or really rack up the mileage yet.

I'm shooting for 14k on my 04 GX with 126k miles. I think I'll get it with the suspension addition.

Oh absolutely. I watch it pretty closely. For a lot a 30k cruiser as a toy is no biggie and they don't have to deal with some beat up wheeler some guy thinks is worth 15k.

I have the daily internal debate to start modding my 96 locked 80 series with 90k on it or sell it on BAT for $$$$$$$ and buy one that I won't feel so bad wheeling.

90k on a 3x locked 80 will fetch good money. I'd throw no money in mods on that unless you want to keep it for a long time. The only scratch that hurts is the first one.

    There's the conundrum. Heh.

    100% stock it's worth more.

I have no intention of ever selling it though so I should shut up and drive it.

Adiron, good luck on BAT. Usually goes well but have heard some crazy stories about winning bid not paying, BAT not doing anything about it, and then they don't let you relist the car.
