Well, I'm not gonna be the first person to order from them, but realize that Singapore is a free port with basically no trade barriers, so there might be a viable business model here (https://www.export.gov/article?id=Si...Import-Tariffs).

It might well be that they set up to fulfill a need, supplying the Pacific Rim and Oceana. OTOH, it could be a scam site ;-)

If anyone in the USA is having troubles tracking down a pair i'd be happy picking up a set in Canada and the next time i'm down south ( which is fairly regular) i'd send it out to you..... with the exchange rate right now it may be a good deal as well. Just throwing it out there....

I hold a US patent, which I prosecuted myself, without legal advice, from start to finish, via the PCT.

What's your qualification to make that statement?

From my perspective his comment doesn't relate well to what my experience has been.

Your reference to the Horst/Specialized IP/patent is a good example of how the system has worked. It (the Horst IP) was protected in the US, however not globally which is why there were many brands out there (not selling those models into the US market) that were utilizing variants that would have infringed if sold domestically.

15 years in venture funded startups with $$$,$$$ spent on IP. Issued patent in the US, PCT filings and subsequent international filings.

I did learn something today though! I never knew you could actually use the PCT as a filing, and it is really not used as such.

Filing a PCT gives you some breathing room as to when you have to make your international filings while still maintaining your priority date of your domestic filings. This pushes costs out to a later date, and international filings do get pricy.

Most big companies will file in the US and Europe, you don't need to file in European countries individually, there is a European patent office. Then they will add other countries that are relevant e.g. Indian, China etc.

    Cheers!

OK, so from your post above, it appears to indicate that you have some background on the matter.
However reading what you had to say seems contradictory and leaves me a bit confused as to how what Spat's said in his post qualifies as garbage?

I'll hold up my hands and say that I never knew a pct could lead to an actual valid international patent.

But I stand by the fact that the actual implementation of patents in the developed world is misunderstood in his post.

German manufacturer Marker DE has stopped selling the beloved Kingpin ski binding in response to a finding from a patent infringement lawsuit brought forth by G3 Genuine Guide Gear Inc. According to legal documents, Marker stipulated in court in May, agreeing that it had infringed on one of three patent claims that G3 asserted against them. Subsequent court dates will determine whether Marker infringed on two other infringement claims, as well as the damages G3 will be awarded.
This lawsuit was settled two weeks ago.
This was confirmed by Marker Volkl USA, though no other details were provided.
Kingpins will be shipping to a US dealer near you (if they aren't already).
