Mexico, 2nd highest murder rate in the world

The bad news is the only country with a higher murder rate than Mexico is Syria. The good news is most are the victims of drug wars as turf battles ratchet up with El Chapo in jail.

Sounds like it's a rather fluid situation.

Whatever the number, it doesn't seem to deter American diaspora. http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/24/americ...ats/index.html

Mexico skiing blows goats despite a few mountains.

I just don't get the hot weather lifestyle.

Well I'm not actually moving, but it seems pretty mild there, 70's all this week, hottest month is May with highs in the 80's, seems dealable.

I did a Google street view of the town in southern Mexico that a fellow at work was from. He came for a job and because some of his relatives had been shot. In google street view there was always a truck full of soldiers in front of me wherever I went.

Much of the data on Wikipedia is dated. The murder rate in Mexico is up over 30% year over year, 2100+ killed in June. Very common to see military trucks with heavily armed soldiers patrolling the streets. Made several business trips to Morelia in the state of Michocan, about 800,000 residents. It is a beautiful city, very modern, very clean which is not always the case in Mexico. It has a beautiful city square next to a cathedral that construction started in 1660, took 84 years to complete. People congregate in the evening in the city square. Square is guarded by multiple armed soldiers patrolling and trucks with large machine guns mounted in the back. In 2010 the drug cartel used semi trucks and burning cars in key highway intersection to completely shut down all traffic into and out of Morelia. Army had to be deployed to get the roads back open. The Federalis had come into Michocan looking for the ring leaders of the La Familia drug cartel, they would have not part of it. When going to Morelia I would meet with associates from Mexico City, about a 5 hour ride. 10 years ago they would drive, five years ago no way, only fly. Way too dangerous to drive the roads which are expressways. Cartel would cut fiber optic cable to interrupt communication and internet for no particular reason other than to reinforce to the public that "we can do anything we want".

A good way to reverse this, would be legalizing all drugs, and turning Mexico into a Vacation and Agricultural Mecca.

You would think there would be more money in it for the powers that be, but I guess not.

Never had a bad meal, I just let somebody else order. The only thing I did not eat was ant eggs. They are pure white, shape of a Lima bean just smaller available in the spring. Camp Bravo near a City called Bajio. Camp Bravo has a small bull ring where they bring in young bulls without horns that you can try your skills against. Never gave it a whirl.

The power that be make so much money from bribes and corruption that they don't give a rip about the citizen. Can't remember the number but a significant portion of Pemex gasoline production is stolen, lost unaccounted for, just disappears. I think I read they they are going to allow others to sell gas, not just state owned Pemex.

Got the Speedy Gonzales. Beef for the taco and chicken on the enchilada. And of course chihuahua cheese all over the beans and rice.

The Tecate will have to wait till this evening.
