Kittel is strongest on relatively flat stages. He's no Bueno if he's gotta haul his ass over a climb in the middle of a "sprinters stage". Sagan can get over most hills and deal with situations like uphill sprints better than the rest

Gotta say I respect Kittle's move from different line, out of the space congested by sprinter's coming around their leadout men. It committed him to a longer solo sprint but he seems to have spent less than in the previous win.
No doubt the other teams will try to work Kittle into the mele to see if that will slow him down. The sad truth is that whine does not age well

anyone see this?
i had no idea, but there were apparently murmurings for the last few years
"On 6th July 2017, in a statement on www.cyclingnews.com, it was confirmed that Mr. Robert Millar had changed gender and is now known as Ms. Philippa York."

this too:
Millar married a French woman, Sylvie Transler, in December 1985. No-one from Millar's family was in attendance, nor were any of his team-mates, who had no idea he even had a girlfriend. Panasonic team-mate, Phil Anderson commented, "He didn't seem to have the skills for getting on with men, let alone women".[21]

I expect he'll be leaving ProConti team pretty quick. A stage in the Vuelta as a neo pro. 3 GCs in 2.1 races this season. And now a tour stage.
Exciting young rider.
Gesink had the comment of the day though on trying to catch him: "It was a battle between two dead guys."

Great stage, much more interesting than watching the Team Sky pain train cruise up the hill.

Better that than having to ride tomorrow's stage in anger.
There will be some time disqualifications. Hopefully that will the extent of the damage.
It seems that brutal descents follow the last two of those climbs. Dry roads, please. The sad truth is that whine does not age well

Fantastic stage today - for lots of drama!
Too bad for G Thomas and Porte. Also too bad for Dan Martin, who lost time due to Porte's crash.

4 FDJ riders miss the time limit along with Sagan, Trentin, and Renshaw. We'll see how strict ASO is following these rules...
