Also Juneteenth, of which I've never heard of.

Emancipation day, and strange enough, the only States that recognize it are OK and TX. Both of which, well, you know!

And while we're at it, fuck your fucking "mexican martini." Oh, you mean a margarita strained into a martini glass? Oh no? Oh, I see it has fucking olive juice?!! Oh. And there's MORE?!?! In the shaker that you left on the table!?!?!? Because after you've mixed it its like 12%?! OH! NEAT-O! Oh. Wow. Does it have gin? No? Does it have vermouth? No? THEN ITS NOT A GODDAMN MARTINI!!! To be fair... delicious.

My good sir, I'm left only to assume that those who are familiar with the martini, especially those who may occasionally imbibe, are of the quite sophisticated company which would ordinarily not include such sub-95-IQ "individuals," or as you so kindly referred to them, mouth breathing chuds. So, there, that kinda blows your whole theory, doesn't it? Take that!

I know my dad did his share of 3 martini lunches. Not sure how anything got done in those days. Or maybe that's when everything got done.

    1. Vigorous shaking melts too much ice and dilutes the drink.
    2. Ice chips and cloudy drink also occur.

So yes, as in many things, details matter.

Something as simple as a martini, the details are the whole thing. What gin, what vermouth, what glass, how you combine it, it all matters.

It's like coffee though. If I'm making my own at home, there's a routine. If I go into a coffee shop, it's less particular. If I'm at a diner, I drink what they put in the cup.

Beefeaters. Noilly Prat. Ice. Stir. Pour into chilled stem glass. One olive, no juice. Sip, and let the icy goodness take hold.

While my e-persona may be that of a redneck hillperson, even I have the taste to never shake a martini.

Costco has a very nice green olive stuffed with a piece of jalapeno and garlic. My personal favorite is 2:1 Tanqueray Gin and whatever Dry Vermouth is available, with two of the aforementioned Costco olives. Most stores around here only carry "Martini" brand vermouth so if I find something else, I'll generally try it.
