That was a good read. I was hoping you'd write about the climb specifics. Keep fighting.

Tate, I'm so glad you got this done! In your "winners and losers" metaphor, you're definitely a winner. Thanks for sharing your story and please keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you for the recap! So sorry the shit came back.

I agree with your "Life is like a climb"! Comparing cancer to war is a bad analogy. Always pisses me off. No matter how tough you are sometimes cancer takes you.

Thanks! Doing pretty well. Just finished my fourth round of chemo and it's getting a little harder every time. Taking an extra week off to go to MD Anderson in Houston at the end of the month (if anyone has good tips on having fun in Houston!)
I finally got an optometrist to work with my on creating some custom glasses that make the double vision less of an issue, so I don't have to wear the eye patch anymore! I haven't been surfing because of the vision issues but I have been biking a ton and that's felt really good!

    Houston got great food.
Hope you have appetite for Mexican, Tex-Mex, Vietnamese, Steak and BBQ.

Weather should be nice now that it’s cooled off a little.

    Nope.
    Never mind.
    It’s still mid 80’s with 75% humidity.

Strong work Tate, good to hear. I just got back from MD Anderson last week (for work) and sadly there isn't much around the actual med center to do. You can walk around the Rice campus and there's a park/zoo nearby, but no great shakes.

As nmchoi mentions, Houston has a reputation for good food, but you need a car or at least be ready to use Uber or Lyft to get around since the town's spread out like LA. Here's a good article on the foodie scene, though I personally wasn't able to take advantage of the info. Other than that, IMO Houston is kinda LA-like concrete, except built on a swamp, without Hollywood or the beaches.
