TR: Volcano Tour 2017
Checked Out the Cascades for the first time this May. First on the list was Mt. Lassen.
NE Face Mt. Lassen, 5-21-17
Left the Devastated Area a little before 6 AM.
The NE Face
Bootpack
First look at Shasta. It's big...
Lassen NP
Summit!
One summit down
Then we skied perfect corn all the way down the NE Face. So good!
It was very good
Goodbye Lassen
Then it was on to Mt. Shasta.

Trinity Chutes, Mt. Shasta, 5-22-17
We camped near Bunny Flat and started skinning around 3 AM. Bunny Flat was HOT when we started, not even close to freezing. But by the time we reached around 9,000' the snow was rock solid.
Shasta casts a long shadow
We made good time up to Thumb Rock.
Thumb Rock Panorama
Misery Hill here we come!
I see the top
We arrived at the summit to blue skies and no wind.
We then made our way over to the top of the Trinity Chutes.
Looking down the Trinity Chutes
Pretty much perfect corn from the top of the Trinity Chutes all the way to Bunny Flat!
Last look at Shasta
Then we drove towards Oregon.Last edited by Ted26; 06-14-2017 at 12:02 PM.

We took a "rest day" and skinned Bachelor before continuing on towards Hood.
Mt. Hood, 5-25-17
It was a beautiful morning to climb to the top of Oregon.
Approaching the Crater
Heading up the Pearly Gates
Cooper Spur looked great but was too firm. We skied the Old Crater Route instead.
Great skiing back to the bottom. All in all it was an excellent introduction to the Cascades. Can't wait to get back to ski the rest!

Nicely done. Yet another of the several hundred skiing things I still need to do.

Wow, you got the perfect weather window, not too mention near perfect snow conditions. My last attempt at Cascade volcanoes was clouds and rain the whole time.
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot
