Not many stripers in the block island sound area. But the blackfish have been biting. Last Thursday near Watch Hill Light…

    New England Striper Conditions?

^Nice!! Caught sunrise this morning over Beavertail and the Mount Hope Bridge that had that orange color. Some big blues around this year. Sorry for shitty pics taken through a stained waterproof case.

That’s a nice sized blue. Did you keep it? Even if we immediately bleed them, I still can’t get into eating it. Great sport, but I’d rather throw them back.

Same. Maybe a pate but that’s a lot of work for stuff I don’t even like.

Good tuna or shark bait though!

Thanks guys. I was casting into a mixed feed hoping for Albies but it turned out to be a small school of chub mackerel on bait being chased by some dinosaur bluefish and that one hit my epoxy jig. I released it. I really like smoked bluefish but I’ve never tried preparing it myself.

Blues? Great music. Bad eating. Might as well eat a falsie.
I’ve had it bled prepped and cooked proper. Blue still sucks.
But bluefish and false Albie are great fun on the reel

Striper is delicious. Tastier than a stripper. Good flakey white meat. It’s just hard to get a slot when the slot is so small.

Yup just got back. Didn’t see as much life as a few days ago but there are still fish around. Seemed like most people were blackfishing Click image for larger version.

Fished within a stones throw of Watch Hill Light again today. Tons of other boats in the area doing the same. Limited out around 1230. Except for a little lull around slack tide between 11-1130, lots of action but quite a few shorts.

It was a really nice morning on the water, saw so many migrating birds. This is my second time trying for tog. The big ones must fight like beasts.

Did you see any Albies? They were around the Narragansett/Pt Judith area just a few days ago but I didn’t see any yesterday.

No albies last week and none today. Quite a few slot fish, many shorts and a couple over the slot. Different venue this week and not quite New England…
