Alexander, VA Shooting - DC area and Congressmen Softball Practice

Most have probably heard there was an early morning baseball (not softball) practice for a charity game and a shooter heavily armed showed up. Rep. Scalise from LA was hit and injured, 2 capital police returned fire and were also injured, and a unnamed staff member was also injured. 5 at the hospital reported so far with the shooter.

50-100 shots, and only injured 5 people. Damn good thing he was a horrible shot.

well, I suspect that number is actually way lower. People always imagine more shots than there were, and I also suspect that folks are counting shots fired AT him, too.

Reports were the first shots were fired up into the air and then he started into the persons on the field. Heard it was an Illinois person based on the drivers license. Still did not have confirmation on the 5th person injured was in fact a staff member and the various press interviews refused to state anything other than confirm 5 were taken to hospital...

Looks as if he fired 12 shots before he was engaged.

    Vibes to those injured.

Based on what I've read, it sounds like this guy would have fit right in over at the Polyass forum.

That could have been the now Congressman Brad Wenstrup but served in the Military as an Emergency Doctor that was there and attended to Rep. that was shot in the hip. He was interviewed about the treatment he provided after the shooting was over but before the emergency responders got to the scene.

I think its actually less prone to injuring oneself. Having played both since forever and still playing, I've been to the ER twice (broken wrist, ACL) for softball, and never for baseball. I've not been shot yet though.
