Do you think it's a no go for carrying a camera + lens? My idea was that I could spin the pack around to the front to access instead of having to take my pack off all of the time.

^^^Kinda this. you could still put *some* water in there I bet. It has a pretty good suspension system but again, it gets overwhelmed when really full. For me, for a quick bobsled lap it's perfect.

Works well for the shorter local rides with co2 , adapter, levers, multi tool , levers, patch kit with couple small extras and a tight squeeze to get my keys in. I strap a tube to my bike. Going to get the race face strap for the tube that has a little pouch for levers and co2 and adapter. The new bigger hip pack will have room for a bit more water , pump , arm warmers, superlight shell(100g), phone , tire plugs, and some other small extras. For longer rides
Hey, here's a solution for your tools and spare tube and you'll also get to utilize the "useless" under the downtube cage mount on your bike.
    Much recommended...

That could work. I've looked at them online. Wonder what they're made of? Hate to lose it off the bottom. May have things sorted though. New bike will have a bit extra steerer and fork on current bike will have extra steerer so may try one up edc

Finally this thread is back on track, although I believe the OP would need all of this plus room for a spare tire and soap to set the bead. Possibly a small compressor or floor pump.

Please refrain from posting suggestions unless they meet these criteria.

There is a water thread and a tool thread which both basicly ask " how can I not carry stuff i should carry ?" and you want the collective TGR to be serious which is a stretch under any circumstance ?

XXX-er, was that for me? I hope it was clear that I was just poking fun at the original post by Schindler . All joking aside, I think it's pretty incredible that he was able to do, on the trail, what many struggle with at home in their garage. :-)

Used to use a regular saddle bag, but had a hard time finding something that was big enough and didn't flop around without strapping it to the post. Never liked the open style, I'm too nervous about losing something and anyway don't really want mud all over my stuff. Picked up one of these recently and it seems to work pretty well:

    http://www.speedsleev.com/product/speedsleev-ranger/

Holds tube, levers, small multi-tool with room to spare (I could add a couple of CO2 cartridges or a chain tool if I wanted). No flopping and doesn't interfere with the dropper. Pricier than other options but I'm willing to pay a little more for something that does what I want (and hopefully lasts).
