Very cool. I'd never seen Iceland as a fishing destination. But I do love me some geology, and particularly volcanic geology.
On the topic of those vertical features: that's a great example of columnar jointing. (Off topic somewhat: my favorite example is the cliff faces in the Owens River gorge (east side of Sierras), where hot springs disrupted the thermal gradients and created flower-shaped columnar jointing patterns. Super cool, if you're into that particular aspect of nerdery...)
Back on topic: thank you for posting!

Iceland is definitely a fishing destination. The water is almost entirely private and there are gigantic brown trout, lake-locked and sea run artic char, sea trout, Atlantic salmon, and numerous ocean species. The private water is highly regulated. On the stretch of the River Holaa that we fished, a maximum of 8 rods per day is permitted. We were also required by the farmer/landowner to use barbless hooks since we were fishing catch and release.
These columns that you see pictured are the basalt columns at Reynisdrangur"You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning".

I guess I'm drawn to those. I've got photos from that formation in Iceland as well as this one from the Columbia Gorge in Oregon:
