Roof bars too low for wind fairing?
Got some new cross bars, they be whistling a bit so wanna get a fairing for em. They only sit about 4" above the hood of the car though, and seems like most of these wind fairings are designed for bars that sit higher. Anybody have any insight or know who makes a Lower sitting set?

It looks pretty trashy, but try wrapping parachute cord around the bars. I was looking into a fairing for my girlfriend's car but doing the p-cord trick took care of a lot of the noise for dirt cheap. I typically wrap it around about 5-7 times and tie off to the towers.

You should try moving them from the hood to the roof. Might help, who knows.

And those are the bars that aren't supposed to whistle.

Drive slower. Make sure you're in the left lane.

Just go full custom already!
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Fairing might make the wind noise worse! It's not designed to make your rack quieter or to make your car more aerodynamic.
Rack manufacturers originally made fairing for logo placement space on their sponsored vehicles. Then the public liked the looks of the fairing, so they started making it as an add-on feature. It's purely for cosmetics, no matter what the catalog says...Leave No Turn Unstoned!

Do your Chinese roof bars have this sort of rubber strip in a channel?

The flat bars I've looked at all have that type of insert. It's supposed to cut down on wind noise.

That is a much nicer looking method than the para cord I suggested above. Same effect I guess.

See that cavity on the inside of where the crossbars mount to your roof bars? It's viewable in the pic on the far side of your car. My guess is this is the source of the noise. Find some heavy duty black colored gorilla tape and NEATLY cover the concavity so the air has a smooth flow. Or come up with some other creative, minimally ghetto way to clean up areas for creating disturbed air. You might also slap a piece over the round holes on the ends of the bars.
If that doesn't solve it, I'd second the wrapping the bar a few times with paracord. This disrupts the airflow and may help on the noise.
