Someone else's press. Once I finish disassembling it tomorrow, and parts show up, I'll hand over all the pieces in the morning, and viola, pick them up pressed in after work.

Unfortunately, the Land cruiser decided that while the black bimmer was in for major surgery, it was a good time for the alternator to crap out. So add that to the rapidly growing list of car issues I have. My fan switch died on the 944 also, waiting for that to show up, but driving it with the fan jumpered in the high position. Grrrrr.

I decided I didn't want a V8 BMW as a daily driver anymore since it has nearly been its own project, so obviously I bought a basketcase as a new DD. An old RSX Type S for dirt cheap.. Probably because suspension bushing, link, and joint that can be worn out is pretty much hashed. So now I've got a growing pile of parts in the garage waiting to all go in at once.

Also, through a weird circle of ownership, I got back a nice turbo manifold and a cheapo intercooler and piping for an M50. I'm a ZF5, turbo, injectors, tune, and a bunch of free time away from a grandpa wagon that makes weird whistling noises now.

    I like those little rsx.
Knocked out the cruiser alternator job.
Used the convertible as the errand runner cause it was so nice Saturday.
While I wait for parts for the 540 subframe, I decided it was time to do something about the power steering leak that was making a mess of the driveway, let alone the engine bay. Fuck. What a mess. Ordered up all new lines, and dug into it tonight. Pulled the power steering pump, the intake, fan, and alternator. Rm europeeeen... Where the fuck are my parts?

Sweet vehicle collection. Is your place just above the smogline or is that an optical illusion?

Most hydraulic shops will rebuild or make ps hoses for cheaper than replacement ones that are higher quality for future reference.

I have gone that route in the past for stainless steel brakelines, and oil cooler lines. My experience is that they typically frown at you when you bring metric german fittings in. And the BMW parts really are not too expensive when sourced properly from Pelican/fcp/rmeuropean.

Unless the smog gets really bad, we are generally above it and looking down on the suffering plebes. If you are in the neighborhood, it's pretty easy to figure out which house is mine, and if you see legs sticking out from under a car, stop by and say hi.

More progress. 540 steering and rear end bushings arrived, so back at it. Power steering lines in. The biggest pain in the ass ones are always the smallest.
Also have some brake parts to put in. Previous owner put 8 series calipers from an 850i in, so, got nice big rotors and some oe style pads.

The timing chain in my 2012 EcoBoost stretched enough to jump. Dodged a bullet with no bent valves. I was pretty sure the heads were coming off. I can't believe I've made it this far in life without a cordless ratchet. Highly recommended.

Cool monkey. How many miles on your eco boost? Is there a recommended interval for changing the timing belt?

180k. Chain stretch is a know issue and I believe was remedied in 2015 or so. The initial symptom is a 3ish second rattle in startup until the tensioner can catch up.
