It was the Parlimentary protocol office who vetted. They don't vet which team the guy played for just yhat he isn't currently on any list. It is 100% the Speaker (and his people)'s job to make sure everything is above board. The speaker and his office does not report to the PM, ever. He reports to all of Parliament and he fucked it up, all on his own. He is not a part of caucus even though he is was elected as a Liberal.

Yep 100%. Speaker was well respected (by all sides) but messed up big time. It's hard to imagine a bigger fuck up. This is International news, and has already added to Russia's "we're fightin nazis" narrative. That said we're such a small player I suspect (at least globally) this won't be headline news for long.

A political Party would get a certain amount of funding from the gov based on how many votes they got in the last election so that was the reason to vote for the underdog but the Harper government ( not the conservative cuz he alwasy put his name on stuff ) canceled that policy as i remember so there isnt a real money reason to vote green or rhino anymore
