George is my new hero. I'll bet some of you Banff/Canmore folks know him:

87-year-old skier still races and has a basement packed full of every pair of skis he's owned

I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." – Edward Abbey

'Don't slam it until you've been here': Winnipeggers condemn Price is Right prize mockery

    https://nationalpost.com/news/canada...-prize-mockery

Winnipeggers are pushing back against online commenters who have been mocking a recent episode of the Price is Right that featured a winter getaway to the city as one of its end-of-show grand prizes.
    ...
“Who in their right mind would want to come here in the winter!” one person wrote on Facebook.

"Might as well send him to Siberia” another person wrote on Twitter.

“The Price is Right must be hitting the bottom of the barrel for prizes if they’re including trips to Winnipeg lol,” read another tweet.

“How mad would you be if the first prize in your Showcase Showdown was a trip to Winnipeg?”

Local invention Skizee ready to rip on the province's ski hills

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfo...iing-1.4950886

The eye-catching invention, which could launch a new winter sport, is called the Skizee. With it, you can ski uphill or cross-country snowboard. It even fits in the trunk of your car.
And it's made right here in the province. After many years living in Maidment's head, and nearly two more at Memorial University's Genesis Centre, the Skizee is ready to hit the slopes — and the market.

The Skizee has a four-stroke engine, which drives a track similar to a snowmobile. An articulated arm splits into a fork, which rests on the rider's lower back. Grab the handles, pull the trigger, and the track rotates, pushing the rider through the snow. You can glide effortlessly over flat terrain, even zoom uphill.
    He calls it power skiing.

Well, the name is unfortunate. I googled it. Aside from skeezy meaning skanky whore etc. it's also the name of a hardcore gay porn fisting site...so it's got that going for it, which is nice.

I get "slovenly, distasteful, sleazy; disreputable or immoral, especially sexually" from the Oxford Dictionary. You'd think they'd use the google before launching but perhaps the Memorial University's Genesis Centre doesn't own computers. Totally agree that sharing your product name with a hardcore gay porn fisting site is also nice.

Only $43mm of pot sold in Canada the first 2 months of legalization. Seems kind of underwhelming to me, but then I suspect most have/had a pretty good stash to begin with...
And funny to know Anne’s home prov of PEI were the big spenders per capita. Would love to see the analysis of that demographic!

That's the first two weeks, not months.

And they were sold out pretty quickly.

    This week in Canada.

Oops. Musta been under the influence while reading the news tonight. Makes PEI’s spending even more interesting then!

Given the supply issues, I wonder what the total amount of weed available (black and legal) was? Assuming a rough cost of $200/oz, $43mm is less than 6000kg of total legal retail supply for those 2 wks.

To be fair, I had forgotten about that. And I was envisioning more of a fair fight. Dude ambushed the moose in the water. Try that shit on land. I just want to see someone try to recreate that previous pic of two people sitting casually on a moose on dry land. You just try and walk up to a moose.

I went to Winnipeg once. My only comment was that it reminded me of Price George, on larger and it smelled a little better.

And I can make that comment, because I was born in the Big Stink.

Seven-year-old calls 911 after getting snow pants for Christmas

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada...tmas-1.4231386

A 7-year-old Ont. boy might have just added himself to next year’s naughty list after calling 911 for receiving snow pants as a Christmas gift.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt -- who tweeted the incident -- said the call was placed in the early evening on Dec. 25.

He said the boy was upset with his present and wanted the police to help.

My daughter gave me DVDs of seasons 1 through 3 of Letterkenny for Christmas. All the poor girl new was that I liked it. And her friends from Ontario at school liked it. She is not amused. I am laughing my fool ass off. She bought them at a Walmart in Fredericton, so technically it is last week in Canada, not this week. How are you now?
