Like, they're just clamps, right? But I can't imagine why he would need / want to fabricate his own. Were they super rare or expensive to buy in the ~1940's? Hard to acquire in a small BC mountain town? Just a 'fun' project to use up some spare heavy freakin duty steel he had laying around? So fascinatingly odd to me.

My leafblower is coming in pretty handy right now. Especially since I don't want to pick up my leaves, I just want to make them someone else's problem.

Most recently--stand up weed puller. Saves the back. Another back saver--wife's sailboat in the garage, the trailer tongue lies on the floor so I can step over it so I use a chain hoist to lift the tongue so I can fold down the tongue wheel when it's time to hook it to the hitch.

I own all sorts of great tools. They each do something well. Nobody has said anything about the worst tool they own so I figured I'd take care of it. My brain. My brain is the worst tool I own. It just keeps fucking me up. It's been relentless for the last few decades and now it's getting worse.

This little guy has been a life saver lately. I use this thing probably more than just about any other power tool.

Thinking about switching my cordless tools to Ryobi 18v. I like all the toys they have. Inflator, hand vaccum, etc. Waiting for the Ryobi Fleshlight before pulling the trigger.
Talk me out of it.However many are in a shit ton.

I have a number of Ryobi tools but wish I didn't. I got into Ryobi before it became a HD exclusive. The batteries don't seem to last and they're definitely light duty. The only thing I like about Ryobi is the price. Ridgid is a better option, among others. If I were starting over I would go with Milwaukee. I think all the companies sell pretty much the same suite of tools.

Yup! Sure, they cost more but their batteries are incredible. Been building a deck and about 300+ sq feet in I still have 3/4 charge. I don't know how that's possible but these things just go on for days. Doing new construction work for low volt wiring, I could rough in miles of wire, working from dawn to dusk and my battery still had plenty of juice left.
Now that they're being used for home duty? They're pretty awesome. So yeah, skip the Ryobi gear. Sure, you can get a hudge set of assorted gear for like $100 but you'll get annoyed by their battery life.
