Chat. And tags. Two simple things. Why can't we have them?
I think I was the Estwing guy back in the day but I'm off their hammers these days. I do however love my little Estwing "Camper's Ax" it's just a perfect little tool for spitting kindling, mine's like 20 years old and I still use it a ton.
Also I have a Porter-Cable Sawzall with a cord that's like 30 years old at least. Maybe 40 or even more, I got it used from my brother. You want to rip shit up, that fucker's the ticket. Unfuckingstoppable. One super-hung-over halloween morning we used it to carve pumpkins in a hurry. That was pretty hilarious. What a mess.

The Best Tool You Own
I just bought an automatic wire stripper. Life changing compared to my combo crimper/stripper thing

The favorite tool in the Truckee Roundhouse maker-space (I hate the term but that's what they call it and it's a cool shop) is, by far, the computerized laser cutter. Personally I don't get the appeal--if I want to make something I want to make it with my hands, not with a computer, but to each his own.
They have a SawStop table saw--if I ever replace my Rockwell contractor's saw it will be with one of those. Aside from the safety feature it is really well made saw with a lot of convenient features. They also have a big Jet lathe which I'm trying to learn how to use--while it's a machine, turning is more like carving by hand than like machine work. Not very loud and just chips, no dust.
And my Veritas block and smooth planes are very nice, extravagant but worth it. Getting nice thin shavings with minimal physical effort is very satisfying.

Just something similar to this. I think maybe you're thinking of something much cooler and more expensive.

Every time I hear the word "colonoscopy" I have a serious sinking feeling and think, fuck, the next one's one day closer. Fuck. The procedure's nothing, but the prep is just the worst. Fuck.

No doubt. I'll count my blessings.
I have some weird blood sugar issue that's completely fine as long as I eat enough protein and stay away from excess sweets and all you can eat in the prep is like jello and sorbet, so I'm physically suffering during that prep, shaking like a leaf and feeling like I'm gonna pass the fuck out at any moment, so that's no fun but I'll deal with it. I don't even care about the shitting, that's not the issue. Feeling like I'm gonna die any second, that's the issue. But yeah, better than a bag.
edit: how the hell did we get on colonoscopies from tools? Confusimicated.Last edited by iceman; 05-07-2017 at 02:05 PM.

I have this steel wrecking bar, I don't even know where it came from, I didn't buy it. I guess one of the guys left it behind when they were building the house. I love it and will have it the rest of my life. Just like this one pretty much.
I use the Wonder Bar more though, that's a good tool too. Mine's from Vaughan, it's easy 25 years old and good as new.

I bought a 3' wrecker bar from Harbor Freight after a friend caught a rock in his rear-wheel dually. Took an hour to pry that fucker out! Decided that a wrecker bar was a handy thing to have after that. Of course, I'll likely never use it.
Daniel Ortega eats here.
