Greetings all. I'm planning on doing a few days skiing in the Santiago area this winter. For the first trip I have 3 days from 22-24 June. Anyone down there then, or willing to share some local knowledge about where's best for some interesting stuff? I'll probably hire a car and bring some touring gear.

I'll be down there end of July if you're still around.

Casey: Thank you for your contributions here on TGR. Very helpful and great info!

Heading down to Chile Aug 12 - Aug 20, and trying to get some honest feedback on the terrain at the different ski resorts. Coming from a "I like skiing Kirkwood, Snowbird, Alta" kind of terrain, where do you suggest i go? Looking at the usual places, Portillo, Tres Valles, Nevados de Chillan, or any others you'd suggest.

I would say plan your time between Portillo (best steeps), and the 3 valleys (variety and room to roam). Start in Porrtillo as you arrive on a long weekend (15th is a holiday), and the 3 Valleys will be very crowded.

Hey - looking for ski touring partners in Chile in the next month or so if anyone's around? Likely Santiago area but Chillán may now be on the cards too. Thanks, KBo.

I'll be in staying in Las Trancas and skiing in Nevados de Chillan July 15-29. Was also planning to do some guided touring with Backchillan for a few days.

I'll PM you -- let me know if you'd like to meet up to ski and/or for a drink!

Even with the required salt, this looks pretty good, especially south of Santiago. Hope to ski LP sunday and/or monday.

The cold front left La Parva with an even layer of fluff, and even if the wind messed it up a bit above 3,000m, there were stll nice soft pitches, the steeper the better. -12C overnight, very cold for these parts, and it remains cold at the end if the day. Sunshine and warmer temps are forecast for the rest of the week, but there will still be pow for those who venture afar.

    Discount!

As a public service, here are some of the ski lift discount options for those in Chile with access to these Chilean Telco plans and Bank Cards (follow the links, in Spanish). Follow the links for details and other ski areas in the south. Actually, I compile this yearly anyway to help manage my own meager budget...
