That’s my happy place. I’ll be there (hopefully) before the rain hits tomorrow. Where is this?

Very nice. Congrats on the new place!

Speaking with fam tonight and they tell me high tide, the near full moon and the approaching low had the ocean cranking.

Not so much a view right now but more so what’s in earshot right now:

And that would be the world’s longest rock block of Bruce Hornsby. With and without The Range.

Neighbors have had their place for sale for a bit. Pool out back. It’s the city so we hear each other. No big deal.

Sale fell through a day or two ago and it’s been the two of them jamming. I mean jamming, the fuck out of some Bruce Hornsby late into the evenings in the pool. Much singing along too. I assume this is a coping mechanism.

No clue where the kids have been.

Thanks. Yes on the waves , took the kids in a 16’ war eagle duck boat on the waccamaw river and the waves in the river were legitimately 3’.
We turned into some feeder creek almost immediately to fish a quiet stretch but the ride back was spirited to say the least.

Moran State Park! It's not just a TRG insult.

If you squint you can see my house in this pic.

How was the island vibe in light of the 'ronageddon? Welcoming, or GTFO?

We're over run with tourists looking to get away, ferries are overloaded and running on the winter schedule (fewer boats), the ferry workers are unhappy (heard one yell at a driver "FUCKING PAY ATTENTION" while loading) and call in sick at the worst times canceling even more boats because they don't have a full crew. It's not uncommon to have a 4 hour wait in Anacortes or having to sleep in your car because everything is overloaded. Bicycle tour companies keep coming, maybe even more than before even though they've been asked to stop coming, Kenmore keeps advertising flights to the San Juans and KISM had an ad campaign going saying We're open and miss you, which is the furthest thing from the truth. The local vibe is pretty much GTFO. Oh yeah, I forgot, get the hell off my lawn.

Can't say I'm surprised. B'ham is overflowing with out of state plates.

I spent a couple weeks working on the radio towers up there a few years ago.

No problems at all. Ferry was half full, maybe less.
Eastsound and Moran were not crowded at all, I was surprised. There were maybe 4 cars in the lot Sunday on Mt Constitution mid day. One was a van with 16 bikes however.

Just cooked at the campground, kayaked, swam at Cascade Lake, couple easy hikes with the kid.

Everyone’s been nice but haven’t talk to lots of people. 100% mask compliance everywhere except the beach.
