That fucking sucks. In so many ways.

I spent over a week down there this past few and I walked up there and this amazing woman in that window recognized me from a show far away where we hung out and laughed, and she did about the biggest hug by buying me a beer and not charging me for the chili on my dog. She actually came out and we had a hug.

Fuck, these are monumental changes to what it actually means to go skiing. Fuck that shit. That REALLY PISSES ME OFF.

This is fucking bullshit. See that sign? It's fucking cardboard. It tells you all you need to know.

    Fuck that roillllls me.

I'm staying at this crazy place way above Carmel Valley that my friend rented for Sea Otter. The bed they gave me is literally in a converted barn, but the view is pretty decent.Click image for larger version.

Yeah it does. As I believe I understood, either that building was at the base of Coonskin in the 70’s or the original Giuseppe’s was at the base. We had our last beer up there Saturday and it was sad.

It is part of the replacement of lift 9. It’ll be a high speed quad and the top of the knoll will supposedly be cut 12’. Next season may be a ‘food cart’ and the next maybe a restaurant named ‘Giuseppe’s’ (without the vibe). Who knows?

Give a shout next time you head down.

(FWIW, I was pissed when they put in lift 9. It used to take 4 chairs to get to The Stairs, Bushwhacker and The Plunge, which were always virtually untracked. Then there was the hikes to Gold Hill before that lift got installed.)

This is Giuseppe’s from the top of Lift 9 with Palymyra, Bear Creek, Gold Hill, hike too terrain, including San Joaquin couloir, etc beyond. The view to the right of this image includes the Wilsons & Lizardhead.

Vegas with your family is way less fun. First time I’ve been here and behaved myself. It’s 9:15 and I’m damn near sober and I’m toying with going to bed. Lights are still cool if you can get over the whole consumption concept.

I think Vegas generally gets less appealing the older you get. At least it has for me.

One of my brothers lived there for a while.

Me (visiting - looking toward the strip) "how often do you go down there?"
    Him, "never"

Repairs are underway, the scaffolding and temporary bracing on the flying buttresses are crazy. We did a lap around it yesterday evening, they have a very well done narrative with pictures about the fire, repair/restoration process on the temporary wall blocking off the site.

in a similar vein, our 'hood has about 3-4 houses owned by the chilian national lumber company, thier north american HQ is closeby. they will rotate up and coming execs through for 4-5 years a pop, all are extremely catholic with 5+ kids, and all are excelent tennis players. After a match one day Franciso brilliantly observed

"I had a business trip to las vegas. you know, a man could get into a lot of trouble in a city like that"
    "Can't you see..."

I am familiar with the story but had not seen all of the work that has been made about it.
