Maybe you just take it for what it is and stop getting triggered by a pic of a stupid flag. Bmills got a good lunch and went on with his day. Get over it. This is a photo thread, not a Glademaster virtue signaling thread.

He's providing a valuable service. I mean, with my myopic world view I'd never have known that any place flying that particular flag was a haven for white supremacists. I might have inadvertantly picked up a pulled pork sandwich thereby adding my name to the list of supporters of hate and racial injustice. Thank goodness we have a resident expert in such matters with so much time to devote to scouring these forums in search of latent injustice and making sure that we only order sandwiches from establishments that don't actively advertise their support for bigotry.

A little balsam root and Mission Ridge off yonder. What a beautiful day for a ride.

    Bwah!

Nah, upon deep, personal introspection (cause I didn’t notice any flag when I showed up to eat until you delicate flowers pointed it out) I get the feeling that the real big black dude in overalls and some kind of military ballcap who was making chainsaw art out of tree trunks in the parking lot to sell to passersby (Think giant bears carved out of a tree with a sign that says “Welcome” to put on your porch) may be the connection to the offending flag if I had to guess.

I don’t know for sure, much like Glademaster, I’m just spouting reckless speculation based off a pulled pork sandwich, the ribs and the people I interacted with.

I did forget to mention that I had a couple of laughs with this group of about 15 dudes who pulled in on their bikes and shared part of the large communal table with us (the area is very popular for sports cars and bikes, motor and road).

When they asked if we’d been there before I said never but been by before and finally decided to stop in. Then they jokingly asked if I thought when I did decide to stop that I’d be sharing a table with part of the largest Sikh bike club in Atlanta. I laughed and admitted I had not.

They must have missed the memo too about the flag but I guess we all plod along somehow. The sweet delicious bbq helps, no doubt.

I will never feel it for the desert. Give me pines and mountains or the beach.

Jackson Bentley: What is it, Major Lawrence, that attracts you personally to the desert?
    T.E. Lawrence: It's clean.

Edit: There’s a huge difference between high desert like that one in NM and deserts like the Mojave and Sonoran. There are lots of Ponderosas and Piñon/Junipers at that place - El Morro NM, near Zuni.

Love the desert, but as MS said, there’s a lot of different kinds of desert. My favorite is around Sedona and southern UT. Especially in the fall. So much cool remote shit to explore, and so few people except in the hubs like Moab.

I used to be a mountain purist. Took me a long time and a bunch of maturity to really appreciate the desert.

High desert is pretty freaking cool. Much prefer it to low desert.
