Nesting pair. Mama was in fledgling protect mode and I couldn't get a pic of her in the nest.

I’ve transcended the need for threads and just neural-link into the server room (assuming the box fan hasn’t tipped over)

first pilgrimage to john brown’s farmhouse. i was not aware his dad died in manhattan fighting the crown, and can’t think of another historic site dedicated to a man hung by the govt.

there’s a tearjerking memorial about working farms paid for by abolitionists in the daks (had no idea about these towns that have disappeared) and some other stuff to give context to the times as well as mr brown, and a really devastating modern BLM memorial.

well worth a stop when you’re upstate!

    Cool bit of history.

Watched the race start today, super calm in the bay. Then we went out to the fort to see the wave train in the channel. Saw a trimaran lose the mast and shoot a flare. Hard to get pictures of the chaos but binoculars helped. Click image for larger version.

Nice. You see any trouts swimming around in there? Hit it a few years back and didn’t see any. Some other lakes right in there I still need to get up to.

Stapes - no luck up there. Not a single rise in 3 hours, and no nibbles on CJs or scuds. I was surprised to find out that lake is 50' deep.
Lots of long walks in WB, and the backcountry permit process is a PITA, but I'll get back to Thunder or Pear with the fly rod eventually.

    Sounds about like my experience.

That lake might partially be man made. There was a dam for sure at one point. Bluebird is similar.

    Wow... special day.

sound, smoke and smells of a rotary... and possibly a small fire if you over primed it on start up

Jacked Up Ryan M-2? Or is there a more interesting back story?
Cost a few bucks to keep that airworthy.

Dad gave Sky Rides in a Boeing Stearman PT-17 (with cowl) on the weekends (for the owner). 50$ got you 20 minutes at a little uncontrolled grass and macadam strip.

No, but dad was made to wear the leather helmet with the goggles and a white scarf. Of course we called him "The Red Baron" and he loved it

Funny you should say this... been privileged to be in a few experimental's and u-build-it's when canvas and (aircraft) dope (super thick sticky yellowish lacquer) was the assembly method for the outer skin. Think twice and look around real good before you light a match.

My task as a yout was to consistently look for open fields to put it down if we got away from the airport. My mother near pissed herself quite a lot while me and Dad clambered aboard being careful where you put your feet lest you punch a hole in da bird.
