Posted but more in the Wasatch thread, but after 2 days of cancelled flights, including a 5am that de-boarded. Took taxi back to hotel before red eye and lunatic SLC taxi driver blew a corner w/in sight of hotel and went over the curb w my whole family inside. We’re all fine, but we’re laughing our asses off as he embarrassingly apologizes and drops us off. That’s a first despite having many many nearby death cab experiences.

As terrifying as the cabs were in Bucharest, none of the ones I was in cracked up. Abjectly terrifying. Probably because they were all drunker than I was.

I grew up skiing in the 80’s and pulling off a 360 pretty much made you king of the hill. Things have levelled up in ways we could have never even imagined.

Have attended that rodeo and it is quite the event. Wonderful food, $1200 cowboy belts for sale, top riders, great people watching. Just it’s own atmosphere. Would go again. Fred is on the money.

Custom Wagner skis & graphics are common sightings. Like Icelantics and others, their graphics are pretty cool, but also come in unlimited possibilities. I wish I got a shot of Bob Gleason's (founder of BootDoctor's) '4th Gen CO skier', ski graphics by Wagner. During a enjoyable Plunge Lift ride, he described the images on his skis from his 1960's vintage dad through grandkid photos on the skis. Very well done. He said he had Wagner model them after the Bonafide. Great and colorful guy living the dream and smiling all the way.

(IIRC, I think he said he skied 53k ft in 4 hours during the Telluride vertical challenge the other day at 71 years young.)

I hope Pete is also living the dream.

can't wait for next year
almost as fun as the new york state fair
but surprisingly we noticed an absence of complete white trash that loves the nys fair

the $500 leather puffy jacket at the king ranch booth was a winner for sure
the prayer before the rodeo made me feel like a real american
you can never go wrong with gnawing on a hormone filled giant turkey leg as you walk down the midway

Not right now but last night.

A pull cable on my garage door snapped last night. Caused the whole door to get misaligned. Neighbor and I couldn’t get it down (yes we tried the emergency release). So I pulled the minivan across the garage entry, and slept in it with the pup overnight. We live in an old neighborhood in a metro so leaving it unattended with skis, bikes, tools, and a Miata wasn’t really an option.

Fun times. Pros arrive in an hour to fix.
