I called it - 27.5" is going to DIE.
Wife's new ride will be a 1X11 XT, (couldn't wait for 1X12 Eagle GX), 27.5 Ti hardtail. Should be perfect for her.

Look it up. Most of them are still running 26", and you're blind.

All right, sure in that article they're using 26" except for Sam, perhaps I'm wrong judging fro the video.
First of all you're citing an article which is from earlier this year, so people may be using different bikes at this event. Secondly, there's definitely some YT Tues's in that video and SC V10's so unless they're running different rear ends those are only sold in 27.5 now.
Finally, what exactly is your point? Are you trying to say that a niche event that 99.9% of the mountain bikers in the world will never participate in (Flying 50 feet through the air) is indicative of the fact that 26" wheels are superior? Or that since they use 26" wheels here that they are better for the general population of mountain bikers? Nope I don't see 29" wheels there. I also don't see any 26" wheels at the last XC world cup.

First of all, you were wrong. Let me remind you of that.
Secondly, go back and read the first post of my thread that you're posting in:
If 29ers take off for downhill and enduro, that means there really isn't a spot for 27.5 anymore.
26" will always be the best for dirt jumping, bike park riding, freeride, all mountain and fun trail riding. Now that 27.5+ and 29+ plus bikes are really struggling in the market, with most REAL feedback being poor, 26" plus bikes will the next logical push by the industry - a return to 26". But in reality 26+ will just be a 30mm internal sub 500g rim, with a 800g 2.6" tire on it - that's pretty much what "all mountain" bikes have been running for the last 15 years, because it ACTUALLY WORKS.
29er = Competition
26" = FUN
They care that their wheels are strong, have a good strength to weight ratio, are durable, maneuverable, and can accelerate and decelerate quickly. Funny thing is, most non-competitive mountain bikers want the same thing too! Surprise!!! They don't care that a huge heavy flexy un-manuverable wheel might be 1% faster or roll over a rock 5% better, they want a bike that's actually fun to ride. Deal with it.
