Damn. I'm one of the cross-posters, first got my feet wet as an adult-onset skier at epicski before joining here (mostly a lurking dentist) and at telemarktips. TTips closing down was a much bigger blow but epic had its place and I'm sorry to see it go.

Primarily because it was host to my best work evar, if I may be so immodest. There was a guy named Tai Chi Skier who infested epicski with constant threads and threadjacks about his "flatboarding" theory. No clue WTF he was talking about but it went on too long, so here's the response it demanded when I was trying to avoid real work on a deadline:

It is known among some old-time sleeping obfuscators, the advent of snowing spew is probably one of befuddling things happened to skiing industry and sport; it stimulated the development of shined shoes and reinvented curved torn techniques.

Shined shoes are nothing new, they have been done even in wooden shoe days; only this time the "shape" has been made better and shorter. The "shape" is formed by the woodchucks that are a part of the spark of the tuning radio of the ski, so it makes tuning easier. Music, and voices, can be heard. There are voices in my head.

The modern synthetic materials also make me fatter and shorter, which makes it more difficult to flatten my tummy. Come along with the shined shoe, the reinvention of my technique, which is also nothing new, it has been used by high skiers all the time. Only this time the "shine" of the shoe generates tuning energy that the voices louder and louder. Shhh. Do you hear the voices?

For decades, the dressing gown scenes are dominated by a technique so-called "slip and fall." The techniques are solemn: (1) push-pulling, (2) unthinking, (3) wait right there, and (4) tag. You’re it.

However, a torn curve, on the other hand, requires a face plow, and a bean pole to knock your noggin.

As you slide down the mountain, cruising on your face, is that not what thrilling of ski all about?

Now ride it through: break the skis.

    TS

Paging Highway Star to the white courtesy phone.... My first encounter with a ski forum and Mr.Star talking up Atomic Mex 88 skis. I purchased a pair being a newb at the time and being gullible. They skied well and helped me find the cesspool that is TGR.

    Dear Fellow TGR Members,
This loss of yet another voice in our skiing community is a product of President Trump's imperialistic tendencies and I predict there will come a day when our very own TGR Forums may face the same uncertain future. I would like to put everyone's fears to rest, and let you know that our world class IT and computer experts are ready and willing to host the TGR Forums if that day ever comes. I fear it may come sooner than later and that is why I have instructed our team here to install the latest equipment needed for a web hosting service located in the beautiful DPRK. Rest assured our Linux servers running the latest LAMP platform with 99.999% uptime and high resistance to DDoS attacks will be far superior to the current 1st floor converted shoe closet in Wilson, WY. The DPRK embraces the philosophy of Juche, where man is the master of his domain.

Best wishes and rest assured TGR will live on,
    Kim Jong-un
    Supreme Leader, DPRK

I think I met this dude at a house party in Park City in like 2007 or so. He tried to tell me I couldn't ski because of some bullshit technique he dreamed up. He was wearing a kimono. He challenged me to a "ski off" that would consist of looking back up at our tracks on the groomer to see who's were more parallel, but backed down when I said I wouldn't do it at Deer Valley and he would have to come find me at Alta.

I'm astounded and I guess kind of happy to hear he was not just a troll. He was nucking futz on the internet, how you pull that off in real life escapes me.

("Nucking Futz" - maybe I found a good screen name after all these years.)

Us internet forum folk need to stick together. There are plenty corporate and other social media interests that work against forums. If we don't stick up for EpicSki, who will be next?

I'd say that it's a pretty transparent move by Vail to choke it out for the domain name over the past few years. They pushed out all the long time moderators a couple years ago.

The fact that we're both members of the same forum makes me feel kind of unclean. The only reason I would support your cause is if you promise to leave and never come back if we're successful.
