Pocket bacon: my life as a local, by Benny Profane

    http://www.powder.com/stories/interv...iqeth4reiuc.97

    Seriously, is this a thing?

I would not accept meat products from a stranger on a chairlift. But then again, I am not Benny.

It's a sequel. Or prequel. Not sure...

Personally, I'll wait for the Lifetime network movie adaptation.

I think we found Benny in Loveland. Or at least someone who has capitalized on his petty theft idea.

He musta said something I disagreed with that day.

The local German butcher sells landjager. Seems like a much more civilized approach to pocket meats than some greasy bacon.

I need a local German butcher.

It's Kraut-cuisine season and I could go for some pork knuckle, cabbage, potatoes and beer.

There's none in Atlanta area? They may masquerade as Polish butchers.

Oh there are, they're just all way outside the Perimeter where I'd have to make a dedicated voyage to go to them. We've got just about every cuisine of the world represented on this 4 lane stretch of road that goes for miles called Buford Highway that Bourdain once came and featured on his show, but the one thing is all the European eateries and such on that strip ceded their space to the southeast asian/latin american/african communities while they ventured farther north. Shit, the N. Georgia mountain town of Helen is like a year-round Oktoberfest, but that's like a 2 hour drive.

I am happy however that the Germanic Society has been putting up a pretty decent Christkindl markt here in town the last couple years that's close by and had loads of to-go meats.

Probably better for the Costco thread but they sell bags on mini landjagers. Good to quite good in a pocket or out.

That’s the thing about Benny... When he’s right, he is right.
