Saw her at OR. She’s even tinier than I expected.

Caroline Gleich Harrassment Story
Just saw on her social media that she blew her ACL but is still going to give Everest a go in six weeks. Crazy.

Idk if “all sorts of stuff” equates with climbing Everest, but hey, anything’s possible I guess

Don’t you need your knees for the decent, which is more dangerous than the ascent?

No way I would do Everest without an acl. Or with one for that matter. Even the following summer climbing walk up 14ers after surgery put me out of commission for the follow on day.
It is surprising how many people ski without and acl. My friend did it for years because he did not have insurance. I met a couple older guys this year skiing without them and there was Askel Svindal? skiing on the world cup circuit without one. Crazy.
I won't make a judgement on Caroline's decision though. She knows what she can do better than us.

It would be one thing if she had a few big summits under her belt while missing her acl. This seems ill advised

I have skied through ACL tears that happened in December where I delayed surgery until May twice, logging another 60+ days without an ACL each time.
With a decent brace, very dedicated PT and around 1hr a day on a spin bike, I was probably 90% of the +ACL ski ability within 6 weeks. Walking on the other hand, remained painful and sort of with a limp for months, but that was mostly due to bone bruising that occurred when the ACL tore and the knee subluxed.
I could see where this type of opportunity may not come up again and I'd want to push for it; but mentally it would be hard knowing my body wasn't at 100% for such an aggressive goal.Move upside and let the man go through...
