We may have some stories later on. Sitting here waiting for the slacker crew for the Solly closing day extravaganza. Every minute they delay getting here is kind of a blessing in a way, it's another minute I won't be shattered today. Take your time fellas.

Well hey, I gave it a shot.

Yeah, only minor bs that I actively blew by because I wasn't going to ruin my day by dealing with knuckleheads.

It's better than recounting my merging of poultry and pork products for dinner accentuated by a tasty 2006 Comte Armand Volnay, right?

Drink a ton of water, the herb is your hangover friend.

As we finally get past them, I say, in what I'm pretty sure was a neutral, matter-of-fact tone, "You guys are causing a traffic jam, you should move."

"HOW DARE YOU TELL ME TO MOVE WHEN I'M THERE WITH MY DOWNS SYNDROME DAUGHTER?!??!!??"

    I'm like, wut?

Dude you were in the way of a ton of people. Nobody could get out because of you. Had no idea about your daughter, but whatever, you were in everyone's way.

Guy's like, WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO? which is a valid point, if you're not in everyone's way.

btw, we're literally like 5 feet from a sign that says something to the effect of "shut up and have some respect, you're on hallowed ground"

My son steps in. He says, "Whatever happened, there's no need to escalate it." Very reasonable.

The guy goes, "Yeah well, I'm not gonna not escalate it."

Which is the quote of the year.

But this guy was a wifebeater type, his whole family was behind him and din't say a word, you could tell his whole teaparty worldview was being challenged by the fact that I didn't give a fuck and that I would rather kick his ass than apologize.

He ended up walking away, pushing the stroller, muttering under his breath.
That's worth starting a fight about? And you feel abused because the guy refused to fight you in a cemetery?
Where were you in such a hurry to get to? Maybe the slow walk out would have been a good opportunity to think about you just saw--and what the death of that soldier meant to his family who never even learned what had happened to him or where he was buried.

BTW--maybe everyone knows this, but those guards do the same thing 24/7/365 whether or not anyone is watching. Out of respect.

let me help you, slavery was an ill, written in the Constitution, and that Lincoln believed in reconciliation once the wars was won. there was no doubt the north was going to win. the civil war was the accumulation of 250 years of bad decisions by our fore fathers

You should go up there sometime. Awesome view of DC. I would have grabbed it, for, you know, Gettysburg alone. He should be happy he wasn't hung from a makeshift gallows by the slave quarters up there.
