Prototype part - feedback welcomed
Guys,
Been working on this simple part that holds your bike upright in your garage, apartment or even on the back of your car.
Keen to get some feedback, however random.
Will sell for around $28 +/- and thinking kickstarter. The tooling / molds cost a bomb.

Cheers,

I actually think that has potential. If it could also be set to hold the bike at an angle as well as straight out into the room that would be handy when you have a bunch of bikes to store. At the moment I have a dozen bikes downstairs in a variety of different types of holders and it's kind of sloppy.

Can it stand up to UV, extreme temp swings, rain, road salt, etc? Seems like it wouldn't last long on a bumper.

i think its pretty neat.... i don't think it would work for my garage setup but i'd probably buy a couple if they did.

How much "turbulence" do you think they can withstand? Think they'd grip a bike and keep it steady going down a mellow dirt road? I've got a Ford Transit that these might work well in, when I only want to hold 2-4 bikes in the back in the upright position instead of mounted by the thru-axle on my wall-mounted rack system.
If you want to send me a few of them, I'd be willing to test them out and write up a review and give you some feedback...
My initial thought is that they seem useful in certain situations, but the price is high. I'd target something under $20, personally. MTB'ers are cheap bastards.

Cool idea, but Clug for the win

^^^ The only issue with Clug is the restriction on tire size... max of 2.5". I'm guessing it won't fit larger 2.5" tires on wide rims, and obviously won't fit anything larger.

My first thought was that yeah, why can't you lean your bike? But that actually is a pretty unobtrusive setup for storage.
Throw a strap across the opening so you can hang bikes from a ceiling and you beat the clug.Besides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp

interesting idea about bumper mounting. that is an actual issue if you dont want to lay your bike down. But its a mountain bike, so why not lay it down gently?. . .

Grumbly bear out of hibernation ^^^^
Looks like a new use for an old product.
Clug is just an awful name for a product.
Will this stick to the drywall in my garage and hold?

I've got 5 Mtn bikes in a one car garage. The only good storage I've come up with has them lined up like angle street parking, back wheel against wall. The OPs idea would definitely show potential to hold them better than the 2x6 stockade I built, and would certainly look nicer.
Ceiling hooks are a pain in the ass for me, never an option for my wife, and only save a lot of space if you have 12'+ ceilings. However many are in a shit ton.
