    Nope, nope, nope.

By the way, I just realized I still have two ancient Hebrew dogs left in the package I opened.

I'm going to throw them out this evening.

All conventional wisdom says no way.

Personally, I'd cook it some more and dig in. I'd justify it by telling myself that the cover provides a decent enough seal for that period of time. Mostly, I hate food waste.

My vote is toss it. Bags is probably right if you get it up to a good boil especially if you didn't take the top off at any time since you took it off the heat but that shit is like a petri dish and it probably sat at right around 70 degrees for hours, that's right in the danger zone. But do report back if you go for it.

How long did you cook the chicken in the crock pot? I cooked chicken soup a few nights back and left it on the stove overnight. I didn't hesitate to heat it up and eat it the next day.

Don't remember how long, but it was cooked and at about 165 when I checked it. Pot was too hot to move to the fridge, so I left it there to cool a bit.

Did the same thing last week with a whole chicken and veggies, that was only out until 2am or so. I chanced that one and didn't get sick. Hate throwing food away.

I'd say you're fine. Any salmonella was killed during the cooking process.

You're right. It's just the E. coli that has moved in on their new, soft, moist, chickeny digs that you have to think about.

Don't get me started on what kind of full blown chicken AIDS it might have.

Any E. Coli in the chicken will be dead too. Unless he took a dump and rooted around in the pot without washing his hands he shouldn't have an issue with E. Coli either.

Hey man, I don't assume to know how another man handles his chicken.

But good point on a totally serious comment.

If I make a big pot of chile/soup/beans I usually just leave it on the stove until it's gone and just heat it up before eating. Sometimes it takesa couple of days to finish it but usually it's just the next days leftovers.

K, can I have your truck if you don't make it?

Screened porch works great as a winter fridge for still "too warm for the fridge" crock pots, etc. It's rarely below 25, doesn't freeze and the animals can't get to it. Good as an auxiliary beer fridge, too. Just put the greek chicken soup out there.

Pretty sure I've eaten enough old food, Jack in the Box tacos, etc to build up an immunity to e coli, full blown chicken AIDS, etc.

    Deal.

So far, 2 or so hours in, I'm just hungry.

With the kitchen half remodeled it's either crock pot, grill or frozen. Usually more on top of the gourmet shit.
