Red Mountain Avalanche Fatality from 2016

Anyone have more on this fatality near Jones Pass/Berthoud/Urad?

I was looking for something else and stumbled on this story. I had not heard about it. Sounds like a solo traveler probably avalanched and buried and not found until the following August.

That's correct, solo traveler. IIRC it took a couple days for him to be reported missing, then another day or two before they found his truck at the Urad trailhead. There was avy debris in the area but nobody knew his exact plans so they didn't really know where to look. Body was found in August. Beyond that, I don't know any details, where exactly he was, if he had a beacon, etc.

One of the few solo traveler in Avy terrain deaths I've heard of.

Weird that it took that long (8 months +/-) to discover him, but I guess from URAD trailheads Red Mountain would be the last place they'd look since I believe, but could be wrong, that thats technically trespassing.

I was up there last winter sometime heading up Mt Wood from URAD and remember seeing some tracks going over to Red and wondered how many people get over there given the obvious Trespassing signs discouraging it.
