Set Marker Griffon heel DIN with boot in or out? :/

Trying to review shop setup of new Marker Griffon bindings, and I can't see the DIN setting clearly for the heel when the boot is in. I suspect this is a dumb question, but I always thought you had to set the DIN screws with the boot in?

But there is a height difference between the two parts of the marking line, making it really hard to read at an angle with the boot in. The only way I can get a clear, accurate read is with the boot out.

Further, it looks like the DIN settting drops about 1 point when I put the boot in (as best I can guess looking from the side), so I better be damn sure which way to adjust it.

Haha, set it with it out. Make sure you're setting forward pressure correctly

    Thanks, straightline.
I'm thinking now the intended way to do it is with the boot out but the heel piece in the upright position as if the boot is in.

set DIN with the boot out, set forward pressure with the boot in.

    Edit:
For kingpin only, don't forget the lateral release...

Sorry I misread, kingpin has a lateral release, not the griffon.
