My buddy and got in a fight with 5 Canadians in Whistler village.

The Whistler locals and staff were stunned when we told the story "nobody fights in Whistler"

Wow! Can't comment on the incident other than to say you throw the first punch you better expect a fight. Nothing wrong with diffusing the situation but it don't always go down like that. If I was that guy, I wouldn't be sitting with by back to the door in a dark bar late night anytime soon.
