So just in case someone else has done the dirty work, and applied and paid for USSA membership, (blurry? scummit? marshall?) it's the freestyle form right?

I'd call Jon Casson, the program director up there but his number isn't listed in the e he sent to Blurry.

right then. let us know, peeps.
    out.
scroll to "Buy DVD", very bottom of page http://bhandf.com/bhandf%202008/longform.htm I do not work for Bill, just dig his work.

Very cool. Nice work researching this and making it happen.

How deep is the water? What happens if a ski comes off? Do they break the water surface with air?

I'd love get out and do this for a day. hmmm...maybe a family daytrip to steamboat is in order?

Not sure exactly how deep the water is, but you won't touch bottom when you land. If your ski comes off then, you are hosed, unless you can dive and find it. We fastened twine from our bindings to our boots. Break the water surface with air - huh?

I think in two weeks is going to the big maggot gathering up there - you should come.

Don't you live in Utah? The Winter sports park is extremely nice and the air bubbles are key to less pain off of the bigger jumps. It isn't even that expensive either. I remember seeing 14 year old Tanner Hall go switch off the biggest one at the WSP and doing one single swith back. Apparently most people get scared going down those ramps forward, and the the rotational momentum is so great that trying to reverse it for a switch back is very difficult.

Only takes about a day. You won't have your membership card yet, but you can just print off a piece of paper from their website saying you are registered.

    Okay.

    Here we go.

50 dollars you guys if you've never been a ussa member.
Download the adobe freestyle form, and in it you'll see a place where you can choose the rookie fee. That's 50 bucks. DO IT NOW if you want to ramp this next weekend. Put your Visa card number on the form, and make SURE you send it to the right fax #. Just call them, or PM me with any questions you guys/gals have. You can put a cover letter on the fax saying please rush. That got my membership through super quick and I didnt have to pay the rush fee.

You'll need boots, skis, pfd, and helmet.

The water is crazy warm right now, as long as it stays warm, no need for a wetsuit. I ramped all weekend wearing only boardshorts and a pfd, and I never got cold at all.

The guys working at the ramps are super cool. They are very supportive, and they're stoked to hear we'll be bringing lots of new people there. The vibe is cool, it doesn't matter how good you are, everyone is very supportive there.

I hope everyone in this thread that has shown interest makes it happen. Water ramps improve your skiing like nothing else.

I'll be ramping all next weekend, hope to see some of you there. -Brett

Also, thanks for stepping up and getting shit done Below Zero. Can't wait to see you making that spin your own style.

    Wrong.

Going to these ramps has always been simple; people like you are going to ruin it.

So it took 105 posts for the crue to get to the "insanity".
    Is that a record?

I think it's clear who you are. I'll patronize you for a minute though.

5 people work at those ramps. The more people we get there, the more job security there is, in a field based around skiing. More money brings bubble systems and infrastructure improvements. Lots of kids practice and jump there, thus staying out of trouble and having focus in their life. The more people we get there, the more money they have for improving the facility and making it better.
Maggots hanging out in the Summer jumping is a VERY positive thing.

It's clear you're just hating "The Pot", and that's sad. Maggots are doing something very positive, please quit shitting on that.

Yeah, I'm prolly going to be up there every weekend for a while. You'll dig the place. (now get your ass back here foo! )

Guy told me that they're going to keep it open until there's a temperature difference of 50 degrees between the air and water this year...guess my weekends are full through October....

BTW-those looking for a cheap pfd may find one here: www.mountainbuzz.com
