Happy New Year and first full day of Fall!

Out early for a backyard roll while it was still cool. 6.4 miles 1571' of climb = good time. Thankfully no hornets, knock on wood, tough times in NH for sure. That split rock pic is cool.

Leaves are falling fast, love the cover. 4mph breeze has a leaf shower passing the window.

Off to Siptemberfest to quaff some neipas!

^^That whole zone is a bunch of old granite quarries. There are some huge boulders and some really neat sections of cut and broken rocks that we ride through. There is old mining detritus scattered around and long exposed granite spines with some great rideable lines.

^^^I'm worried about the VT50 riders.

On a happier note, awesome quick hit at Kton this morning to try to snap photos. Saw much of the JRA crew finish stage 2 (Goat Skull) and then had a serendipitous lift ride up with Dunfee- good to meet you sir. Enduro es beuno!

Just got back from the brutal West Hill Grinder, Westminster/Putney.
Massive pain cave, harder than the Overland or Dirty Pizza. Felt pretty freaking good, considering the insane amount of vert and heat.
Great taco and beer feast after.

Really hot and really humid meant sitting around the house drinking beer with the wife and dog. Yard shit and just general putzing o.

Picked a crap load of mixed garden tomatoes to be turned into sauce over the next couple days. To then be frozen for the winter. A basic general sauce to be fucked with/tweaked when thawed.

Made a sweet 50% basil the rest Swiss chard carrot tops and oregano pesto for tonight's dinner.

Edit: nicely done Buttah! I know, I know: take a lap. I rode hard yesterday, screwed off today, but I have the next four days free to ride. I swear to do mucho laps.

Ooh, and made super tasty lamb Barbacoa tacos the other night.

Awesome time rAcing around Ktown with Anospa and his great crew and whacking a lot of rocks at high speed. Great to meet ya Biggins and thanks for the pic!

Anospa putting down the (practice) hammer!

Lots of fun sketchy sections to bounce around on up there:

    Anyone doing this:

    https://circumburke.org/mtb-challenge-im/

Anyone do it in the past think it's worth it?
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

The trail headed to Victory from Burke is a pretty nice fireroad descent then some fun single track. Not sure how much of Victory you ride or what the east side traverse back is like, but its all pretty nice up there. Just be prepared to be wet and cold.

Rad times were had! That was a brutal course, stage 1 was holding onto a jackhammer for 2 miles (my feet still hurt a little). Really fun to not race in the rain, but I was definitely whining about the lack of shade haha. Let's get out for some fall rides soon!

TBD on full face helmet + receding hairline issues. Further research is required.

Good deal, that climb at 25 miles looks like fun.

I also slacked yesterday and went for a hike with my friend Anne who came down from MTL for the fest weekend. Lights are charged and tested, after topping out at 88` bob, looking forward to riding once it drops to 70`.

K-town looks smoother than teh bush.

    What are they building?

Almost looks like some kind of freestyle jump thing over near the chair there

Too warm out there I was up in Lyndonville on Sunday and nearly 90 and humid was almost too much. We did about an hour on the campus trails though so my kids could get familiar with what's right outside their dorm. Monday was just too hot down here at home. Time for night riding.

ISO - santa cruz Hightower 27.5+ in XL if anyone has a line on one. I'd like to spend do around $4k, depending on the build and condition, if used. If any shops have hold overs, new is preferred.

Is it really a race? Or more of a huge group ride? I just checked the pre-reg, of the 246 dudes, I recognized one name. Kinda weird, none of the usual suspects are registered.
Is it one long conga line or is easy to pass?

The folks I know who have ridden the circumburke are racers for sure (Kris Dennan and Matt Boobar)

Just for grins you may want to check with Doon at Green Mt in Rochester VT. They're not a big used store for high end but they sell SC and you never know.

Okay, both of them are hammers. I've known Boobar since he was like 18. He was a mainstay of the Plymouth State/Rhino Bike scene. I rode with him and Dennan at Kris's Grafton Cheese Grater, last year. It was a blast.
Dennan is doing an Audax from Pete's Camp, looks right at Timber Ridge. Same day as the ullr at Magic. It will be good on a 29 hard tail or a cross/gravel. His route last year was the best one I've done yet. And actually skews towards a fatter tire. He knows those woods so well. He rode with the family at the West Hill Grinder, they're awesome.
Anyway let's ride the Audax and then get drunk at Magic!

Sounds like a party to me, pace won't be brutal, bunch of feeds, discrete safety meetings. Breakfast and dinner at Pete's Camp, place is so freaking chill. Ever been there?
Work up an appetite for the ullr. Let's Party!
