Damn, Finland pulled away. oh well, Fins probably have a better chance of taking out Canada..

Korean goalie (Dalton?) did not look even remotely 0.0001% Korean. But he was good
Germany beats Switzerland advances to face Sweden, nice OT win. Didnt take very long for the game winner

This tournament is so much lamer without pros, but I guess its evened the field up a bit

Stoked for the hometown kid, Aaron Blunck. Hopefully he takes it. He's probably lucky that he isn't an NBC chosen one, Wise must have had 15 minutes of airtime besides his actual runs, Aaron probably had 30 seconds. Less pressure that way.

Swaney doesn't fall down because she doesn't try. She undulates slowly down the hill like a vacationer headed back to the chalet.

She finished last in Pyeongchang and only then became the all-time Olympic champion of cheek.

"I didn't qualify for the finals," Swaney told reporters afterward. "So I'm really disappointed with that."

I also didn't qualify for the finals of the ice dance, though I kept telling people I was willing to put on a bodysock and paw my way around the boards for a couple of minutes while 'My Heart Will Go On' played. I'm disappointed, too.

Swaney is a familiar American type – the flim-flam artist, the corner-cutter, the oblivious striver. Swaney wanted to go to an Olympics. Since that's her dream, who does the world think it is to say she can't have it?

In other countries, they'd boo you back onto the plane when you got home, but in modern America this is a smart way of getting yourself a show on the E! Network.

As it stands right now, Swaney may be the most talked about American in South Korea. Which is rather a change of pace for the Greatest Country in the World™

Ah yes, the country where mediocrity is rewarded with celebrity, but only if it spins. For example, she may have had a cousin's uncle's nephew related to an aunt by birth who's daughter was killed at Sandy Hook. Now THAT would sell! NBC, are you listening?!?

As the camera switched from the winning Canadian ice dancers to the recently-disappointed French, my wife's terrible French accent summed it up: "Next time you show them both!"

Women's short track speed skating relay. South Korean skater trips, goes down, Canadian skater behind her falls over her somehow still manages to tag her teammate. Canadian team disqualified, South Koreans get gold.

Someone wanna explain this to me? This seems like a sport where the rules are a tad vague and inconsistently applied.

The XC guys had to at least make a time to qualify.

So all 12 teams in men's hockey actually advance to the playoffs. What is the point of the "preliminary round"?

People have been poaching the country line forever. Know a dude that came to Wasted State to run in college, even though his home country, New Zealand, has free and likely better than WS "education". Fancied himself great, qualified for the Olympics under NZ and DFL the qualifier by a ways, in TWO Olympics. Has not lived in NZ since he was 17, notes "two time Olympian" on every social byline possible. Doesn't mention the Fine Arts degree received free.

What time will they actually run the women's DH? I have a hockey game in 2 hours and I'm wondering if I should go full media blackout and press record, or if I'll actually catch the top runs
